      Let me get this narrative straight.

      You mean after 20 years as the head of Fox News the Murdochs will “get rid” of a 76 year old Ailes? The guy’s got one foot in the grave and is going to retire with a seven figure parachute... but the Murdochs, why, they’ve had enough of him!

      What a bold brave stand! A real signal of sea change!

      Here is what’s going to happen. They’re going to hire a forty year old arch-conservative who is even fucking crazier than Ailes because he - and it will be a man - will have been raised on a steady diet of Faux News bullshit. Ailes at least knew 90% of the shit Faux did was propaganda bullshit. But the remaining white conservative Xers and Millennials are hyper-concentrated and distilled into a small but potent pool of lunatics that believe that shit.

        Bingo. They’re getting rid of the old guy to bring in their own man (I think that gender is a safe assumption here). The idea that they actually care about the lawsuit is farcical.

        Fox News is not crazy enough for the next generation of Republicans. It’s a good move to ensure long-term solvency.

      I believe an astute Gawker commenter mentioned that Carlson filing the law suite against Ailes, and not Fox News was probably to put pressure on the Murdochs to fire Ailes since the sons hate the guy. They were correct. So congrats to whoever said that.

        Um, you might want to reference an article that’s not six years old to make your point.

        As far as their viewership goes, it’s mostly in the dreaded 50+ category, which advertisers hate since that age group is generally reluctant to try new products or brands, and combined with changes in Cable Carrying fees, it’s probably not as hot in 2016 as it was in 2008, which the article refers to.

        21st Century Fox probably gets more money and better returns from endless syndicated Simpsons reruns or BSkyB than Fox News delivers.
