    You completely left of Anonymous and their ilk. While one could argue they have Libertarian leanings, they would be all in with the lefties. The right would have no computers or computers allowed to exist cos they’re tapped, their power would be shut down and all other sorts of tomfoolery I’m not tech-savvy enough to think of. The monied right would get the fuck out of dodge ASAP cos they all live in lefty dominated areas, while the monied left would load up on munitions.

    I’ve actually given this some thought before and, while on the surface it would seem the right would crush with all their firepower, I think the left’s tactical advantages would ultimately win the day. Remember, the South lost the Civil War cos their military tactics were dumb. I think another go round would end the same way.

      Since I have no idea what you just said, I am going to say you are correct. From inference, though, I take it you are saying the internet types are right-wing assholes who would support whitey. That may be so, but I have yet to see Anonymous, who I cited, support a cause I would consider part of the right-wing crowd. That is what I was referring to. Are you saying that right-wing techies would beat lefty techies in a battle of tech warfare?

    The side that insists on being disarmed should not contemplate, even as a thought experiment, fighting a civil war. Especially when the other side owns 300+ million firearms and trillions upon trillions of rounds of ammo.

      Yeah, but not any automatic small arms or anything larger than small arms. Meanwhile, the capacity to put out weapons and ammo is disproportionately located in liberal areas, and I’m pretty sure most of the factories are unionized.

    Some strengths and weaknesses you may have missed:

    Strengths for the Right: high percentage of military veterans that will recognize have worked on/repaired/defussed and thus understand the design of bombs, boobytraps and IEDs

    Strength for the left: Occupy tent cites are able to be moved and set up easily. Therefore confusing the right as to where to attack.

    Weakness for the left: over reliance on Che T shirts as body armor. Occupy style tent towns are not anything proof.

      Except a vast percentage of US Veterans have never seen combat, or worked in EOD, and therefore know as much about IEDs as any other person who has watched The Hurt Locker. They may not be able to defuse or defuss them.

      Edit: I agree, however, that Che t-shirts and tent cities are not effective bullet stoppers.

    When trolling the Right wing boards I like to ask the commenters pining for the civil war to begin two questions.

    1) Have they made a list of liberal friends, neighbors, family and co-workers that should put up against the wall when everything falls apart?

    2) When they receive that fateful call to arms and step out the door who do they plan to shoot first?

    So far none of them have thought that far ahead.

    There’s another option. Avoid the fight and let the nation splinter. The way Lincoln could have.

    I figure the nation would naturally split into 4. The northeast, from around North Carolina or Virginia up through Maine would stay together. Everything west of the Rockies would stay together. The south would certainly stay together. Illinois would want to join the east coast or Canada while the Great Plains states and the Dakotas would stay together.
