    He clearly meant to write ‘RBIs by themselves are an underrated measure of a player’s offensive abilities, measuring as they do batting skill in the most important circumstances where even modest contact with the ball is most likely to benefit the team’. They blew him up before he could finish.

      Not a peep. I guess they let them go. since now they say Johnson was the only one involved. I guess they are walking back all that talk about multiple shooters on roof tops. In Dallas there is only ever one lone gunman.

      Yes, it was on CNN this afternoon. The three arrests were unrelated to the event. One is still being held on an unrelated gun charge; the other two have been released.

    Has the Dallas police said why other more traditional means of subduing the suspect were not employed? I get that they wanted/had to exercise an abundance of caution given the circumstances, but were other options even considered? (ie, waiting the suspect out; some sort of incapacitating gas; sniper, etc)

      Snark answer - They already tried asking for his license and shooting when he reached for it, but this guy wasn’t going to fall for that one.

      Seriously, law enforcement often goes with what is expedient. That’s how they got to the disaster at Waco. When law enforcement failed to catch their leader on an infrequent visit to town, instead of waiting for the next chance they decided to go all-in on the compound. If you believe Daryl Wilson was entirely above board, his not waiting 70 seconds for back up cost Mike Brown his life. Same with Tamir Rice, John Crawford, and John T. Williams (a nearly deaf native American wood carver who did not clearly hear the cop pull a gun and tell him to drop his knife. He was, oddly enough, carrying some wood and a possibly closed pocket knife. He was shot in the side as he turned to see what the shouting was about. The cop wasn’t charged, though he was fired. While ignorance of the law is not an excuse, being ignorant is, if one is a cop.)

      I’m not positive, but I think they said it had something to do with the fact that he killed 5 people, wounded 7 more, then ranted like a crazy person during the hours of negotiations all while claiming to have explosives on him and planted in other locations, but the more likely reason is racism. Personally, I’m with you, I think they should have walked up and hugged the insane murderer because that’s all he wanted in the first place. Goddamn racist cops.
