With all the technology we have today, I really don’t understand why ‘dead people continuing to do things intended for living people’ in the government is even really a thing anymore. I realize there are rare occurrences of fraud or failure to notify the government of death but then again those are few and relatively far between. Why do we not have a central data base where when an individual passes away, as confirmed by a coroner, their SSN gets plugged in and then all relevant government agencies (local, state, and federal) are notified of the death and respond accordingly towards ending benefits and what not?

Do you want to pay more taxes so the government of NY can pay 23 billion dollars to install Excel on every PC on their network?

Voting machines need 28k modems and coin battery cartridges and IDE Hard drives. IRS still uses tapes for storage. Hell, some places still have those heavy ass monitors running Windows 98. Asking government to be more efficient would require a huger investment that nobody is willing to pay.

I can’t say I am a fan of DeBlasio (I’m lukewarm at best), but six years ago puts up squarely in Bloomberg’s term.

Plus the idea that government inefficiency is only present in socialist countries is kind of hilarious.

I work with government agencies, so I can translate this technical jargon for you commoners.

“The Department of Finance says it inherited the problem and is hiring additional staff to fix it.”

= “We were hoping you wouldn’t find out until the next administration was sworn in, but now that you have, we are going to pretend to do something until you are distracted by something else.”

The incompetence of government agencies is astounding. I worked for them for 10 years and some of the mistakes made and the lack of accountability were as absurd as a Trump campaign.

Thankfully I’m in the private sector now and don’t have to deal with that nonsense.

Yeah, I heard this morning on the radio that this was a lingering problem for at least six years, De Blasio was sworn in on Jan. 2014.

You actually believed deBlasio would fix everything?

Or are you making a point that NYC politics are as irredeemable as the Star Wars prequels?

Naw, I didn’t believe that in the slightest. The bigger issue is moreso the corruption that has plagued his administration.

Which, hey, I’m not shocked, mostly because I don’t have a penchant for treating the latest new hotness as the next progressive savior when it comes to NY politics. Previously it was De Blasio. Before that it was Cuomo, and prior to that it was Spitzer. Now everybody appears to be latching on to Preet Bharara.

It’s all part of de Blasio’s master plan. Soon the carriage horses will rule unchecked, and the humans will carry them on romantic rides around the city.

Now there’s a dystopian future I can get behind!

Literally, as I'm sure the carriage horses will still want us humans to clean up their crap.

If only Trump was President and enforced Article XII of the Constitution, none of this would be happening. Thanks Obama!

        Which is it?

Over the last six years, according to a new audit from the city comptroller, New York City has missed out on $59.2 million in tax revenue ...

The report found it had not done so for the past ten years.

        ’Splain, Lucy.

Also, like him or not, De Blasio (photo featured above!) has been Mayor for three years.

If the money that was due was supposed to go directly into de Blasio’s pocket, you’d better believe someone would be on top of it. Just sayin’.

Leadership is like holding a hot potato. Don’t be the last one holding it before it drops. They knew the risk and did nothing. So, yeah, it is your fault, de Blasio.
