looked at the twitter post about the 31 traffic stops since 2002, and way more people incorrectly thought it was meant to justify his death than people who knew that it was an indication he was constantly being pulled over for no reason.

God damn, the majority of people are fucking dumb. This is why I know I can always find a good job.

Really? My problem is that I can't find a job because, apparently, I'm too smart.

Oh good. We can all join Azealia Banks in her skin whitening adventures. Apparently all that Twitter garbage she spewed was just a self-hating black person’s cry for help. Oh welp.

She is whitening her skin? I know very very little about her outside of what I read on Gawker. Hopefully she will pull herself together at some point.

It’s kind of amazing how much horrible shit can be crammed into a four day work week here in the US. And we still have over half of Friday left.

It erodes a person psychologically. It feels like society is regressing at a breakneck clip and the center is starting to give.

The only way I know how to sufficiently deal with it is to spend all weekend in a pool of margaritas.

Was once pulled over by a cop who said I matched the description of a suspect. When I asked what the description was he replied, “Latino male”.

The 31 traffic violations are attached. They can be summed up as “Driving While Black”

If you open the image in a new window, you can zoom in on it. It’s a lot of “driving after revocation” and “no proof of insurance.”

I love the 31 violations thing, what a bunch of bullshit. They count it over a huge amount of time to make the number look huge (averages to 2 per year, guys, that’s a 14 year period) and I doubt any of them were serious violations or the news would be screaming about it by now.

And either way, what does it prove beyond he’s a bad driver? If that was a killable offense, 85% of NJ drivers would have been killed by now (trust me, I swear at them daily).

It’s fucking gross. They can’t find anything “good” on him so they’re fucking reaching at this point to prove his death was justified and that they didn’t just gun down an innocent person who was well loved by everyone at his job and appeared to go above and beyond his work to make kids happy.

I think the point of it was to show that cops in that area pull black people over all the time for no reason, not that he was a bad driver. Even in this case the cop said he pulled him over for a broken tail light, when the real reason based on the scanner audio was because he was black.

I’m not talking about the intent of the writer of this article, but the news person that was linked. No such attempt to clarify what you’re pointing out (which is true, fyi, he very likely was targeted way more just because of his skin color) came from the initial reporter of that number at first. Twitter is a really fucking stupid place to be posting things like that because of the extreme word limit.

31 traffic stops? So I am guessing if we look at the local municipality’s revenue streams, a big chunk of funds is coming from traffic stops for minor infractions, targeted mostly at a certain group of drivers.

Chances are it was “He’s black, pull him over” about 90% of those 31 times.

I get pulled over 4-5 times a year for an imaginary broken tail light.

The stop that precipitated Castile’s death was far from the first time police pulled him over. According to NBC News reporter Tom Winter, he’d been stopped 31 times for traffic violations since 2002.

Pfft. I had more moving violations than that from ‘81 to ‘96.

31 times. 31 god damned times. I’ve driven without plates, forgotten my handicap tag, speed like a motherfucker, weaved all over the place because of medications, and I’ve been stopped once. ONCE. That was when I was 17. I’m 36 now.

My brother gets stopped all the time. Driving while black is apparently enough of a reason to pull you over to some officers. I don’t drive often and I’m extremely light skinned (can and have passed for white/mixed before to get out of some pretty bad situations) so I’ve yet to be pulled over once.

It’s a mix of profiling and police being rated on their performance based on statistics (pure number of stops) for the most part.
