Hey NRA, here’s what the armed revolt against the government you keep peddling looks like. A pile of dead innocent bodies.

You’re engaging in multi-tiered cognitive dissonance. In fact I think this is the greatest example of cognitive dissonance I’ve ever read.

I think it would take roughly 600 words to deconstruct how hilariously stupid your comment is.

I have no ability to encapsulate all of the horrors of the past several days (weeks? months? years?) but I do want to focus on one portion of this:

We’re still going to pump out nonsense like “Guns protect people”, even though the threat of having one got Castile shot in his car, even though the officers killed and wounded were armed, and and even though if she had one, it still wouldn’t have protected Ms. Taylor or her children.

And we’re still not going to do a damn thing.

Guns are not shields. They are not guaranteed to protect people, nor do they turn every citizen into a super soldier. No self respecting gun own would tell you this.

What they will tell you is that if the gun man cornered them, they would rather have the ability to shoot back than sit there crying waiting for the police. They would much rather be able to defend their family in such a situation. The preferable action is to retreat and let professionals take charge, but given the ease at which criminals can illegally purchase weapons, I’d rather be armed and ready to go down fighting that unarmed and mewling with a gun to my head.

Whenever someone says this, asks them to cite one shooting that was stopped by a random citizen.

There were some particularly moving and scary moments last night when the brother of the falsely identified man was speaking to our DFW NBC station. He was frantically saying that his brother was down there with them when it happened and that his brother went straight up to the police and handed them his weapon. He didn’t know where his brother was, but he was begging people not to do anything to him.

Right after that interview, the reporter shared that he had been able to turn himself in safely. Video found since shows the man turning his gun over, like his brother had said.

The amazing thing about the interview is that the was no anger, just crushing fear. I honestly can’t say that I wouldn’t be yelling about it. I can’t imagine what that would have felt like.

Its almost like we have a whole section of the population that has to constantly deal with unfounded terror when being dealt with and so therefore they, without knowing, go through life prepared to deal calmly with such things.

It’s amazing to me. I would have been a puddle on the ground if I had to deal with all of that last night. Not just last night, but altogether.

I can’t wait to see the contortions that the NRA puts themselves through.

One one hand “good guys with guns,” but on the other hand “the fight against tyranny.” What is an organization that supports unfettered access to guns suppose to do?

Yeah at least we don’t have to see “if only they’d had guns they could have defended themselves!” 😑 This should serve as the nail in the coffin for that ridiculous argument. Nobody needs these weapons. Nobody.

We’re all hurting when our citizens and first responders are killed for no good reason.

I understand Chief Brown is in grief, but comments implying complicity with BLM on the part of the shooters and indifference from the community are unhelpful.

No one of any decency condones assassination.

Injustice of any kind hurts us all.

Really? Police getting shot with rifle fire and you don’t think they legitimately have an urgent need to interrogate the civilian on video at the scene with the rifle? Don’t stir the pot.

Those officers and protesters both rose above violence to one another in a stress filled horrific situation. From the half dozen videos I saw the police were helping people and people were helping the police. Don’t try and take that away from the good people of Dallas.

Also, don’t walk around displaying your guns at protests. Things often go wrong at protests and then what? Do you start shooting people? How’s that going to work out for you 99.9% of the time?

We have a few things to think about here.

    1. Police are currently operating in an environment that consistently places them above the law.

    2. Officers, working individually and in groups have shown that even on camera, even when wearing body cameras of their own and being filmed, they feel comfortable to murder a person in front of witnesses.

    3. Police who were not involved to the point of pulling the trigger are still willing to support their fellow officers and add credence to their position that it’s okay they just murdered someone.

    4. In Dallas you had what is believed to at least 4 snipers. Which indicates organization and collusion.

    5. The theoretical 4 snipers in ambush of walking targets, managed 5 kills and six injuries. From a simple strategic point, it seems unlikely that that many shooters, in those situations hit so few targets.

    6. The idea that people are attempting to connect BLM as being complicit in this and yet never seem to think in terms of police being accessories to murder, when supporting their fellow officers is one of the unfunny things about this issue.

Laws are for the benefit of all of us. Not just those who hide behind them.

      Nice victim blaming, shithead.

“A cop in Minneapolis and a cop in Baton Rouge killed innocent guys this week, therefore a five cops in Dallas brought their own murder upon themselves.”

      Your logic is airtight.

Nice reading skills fuckwit. Let me know which parts confused you and I’ll explain it to you in simpler terms.

That’s a nice fake quote. Why not put in the effort of a real one? I know, because you’re too fucking stupid to know how to read.

      1. Fact.

      2. Fact.

      3. Fact.

      4. Initial report, that since I got home appears to no longer be true. Feeel free to quote me saying he or they were justified in anyway.

      5. A critique of the shooting, in which I found it hard to believe 4 shooters could cause so little damage.

      6. Fact, police operate by a different set of rules.

Parting statement, describing how the legal system is supposed to work, as opposed to how it does.

Feel free to put in some actual effort next time.

Oh look, no surpise that the cops pointed the finger at the wrong person. What is a surprise is that he turned his gun into them because he didn’t have to. The white guys in Ferguson didn’t have to have turn in their guns when shooting started.

He carried that rifle the entire protest and not a single cop said a word to him. After the shots began he ran to a group of cops that still did not even bat an eye at a “Black man with a gun “ running towards them and handed the rifle to them so they would not think he was involved in the ACTIVE SITUATION occurring around them. Then whomever had access to the twitter account found the picture later and, not knowing about the truth yet since the cops were still being shot at, posted the picture. After the truth came out, they redacted it. It had nothing to do with any race. It was a guy was in the area with an AR-15, and now cops are being shot with rifles. We need to find this guy in case he is involved. They “Suspected” that he might be due to the proximity and facts stated. Not because he was a black guy.
