I can’t wait to find out that this man did bad things in his past unrelated to this incident which somehow justifies in police acting as judge, jury and executioner.

I guess it depends on if it was his car, they ran the plates and he had warrants, etc.? In that case they may be more cautious/trigger happy.

Back when Reagan was governor of California, The Black Panthers had armed themselves against this very same specter of police brutality.

Very interesting how the government responded then. It was all about the need for gun control.

      So you are very correct.

      2nd Amendment: YES!

      2nd Amendment: HELL NO!

As all good Originalists know, the Bill of Rights doesn’t count for black people because when the Constitution was written they were slaves.

Time to sully a good man’s name. Otherwise, this might just appear to be another senseless murder.

That Lavish Reynolds, with all the measured foresight of a living god, got this fucker to admit on tape that Castile disclosed the existence of the gun and its legal status (entirely kosher), this should be a slam dunk on serious charges and a conviction and proportionate sentence? Or am I being a credulous naif again?

The officer was Asian, so don’t be too sure. Minority police officers only get a restricted license to kill, not unrestricted.

Poor guy, but he violated the #1 rule of being pulled over while DWB (driving while black): Never, ever, EVER take your hands out of the line of sight of the officer.

This is how it goes: You get pulled over, keys come out of the ignition and go on the dashboard. Wallet comes out of the pocket and on the dashboard. Insurance comes out of the glovebox and on the dashboard. If you have a CCW permit, it damn well better be on that dashboard as well.

It is different if you are black. That’s all there is to it. You can hear it in the officer’s voice. “Why did he reach for it,” aka, “Why did his hands leave my sight?”

You CANNOT take your hands out of the officer’s sight if you are black. They will shoot you immediately. Then they will wail on about how it is your fault for making him shoot you. LeVar Burton told this to his kids just like my parents told it to me just like I’ll teach it to my kids.

The rules are different. They are not fair, nor will they ever be. But you have to learn how those rules are different to stay alive.

Remember when the cops pulled Dylann Storm Roof over and they KNEW he had all kinds of guns and allowed him to exit and present? That will NEVER happen for black people.

The light went on for me, as a white woman, when my black boss told me a couple years ago about the discussions along these lines she has to have with her sons, and the fear she has for them and her husband. Should be obvious, right. But it wasn’t— I never thought of it that way since she’s wealthy and lives in an ultra affluent white area. I knew it was unfair and generally bad before that, but I didn’t fully get it.

The black community so internalizes this separate system of rules that it stops becoming obvious. It’s a separate set of rules, you just live by them if you want to live.

Then things like this happen and black people start talking about it, and then you get the trolls and racists who start pushing back and saying that these are lies. But unfortunately, it is truth.

If you’re a black man getting pulled over by a police officer, there are two expectations: The cop expects that you will try to kill him. The black person expects that the cop will try to kill them.

The entire encounter thus becomes a standoff, with two people dancing around the fact that they both expect the other to try to kill them, and the first one who blinks, dies.

If this pig is not fired and jailed it will prove that the system is inherently built to kill black men.

There can be no clearer cut situation.

The important fact to note here is that—even if the pig had an honest belief he was being threatened (which is ridiculous based on what appear to be the facts)—after he clearly incapacitated the victim (as can be seen from the video), that pig did nothing to save his life. Instead he stood and watched him die while continuing to point his fucking gun at him. Nor would he let the lady assist her dying boyfriend—instead he first ordered her to not move, then had her removed and cuffed.

While the man he shot died in front of his eyes without him offering one second of aid.

All the while, he can be heard saying things that suggest he was quite worried about his own future well being.

That pig cannot be allowed to continue owning a gun, taking a public paycheck, or having any authority.

If there is any justice in the USA, he will be jailed.

If he is not, there is clearly only one solution left: burn it all down.

And to add insult to fatal injury they keep her at gunpoint, screaming at her when she is clearly not a threat, while her boyfriend sits dying in the passenger seat without medical attention.

I can’t even imagine having to sit there and be calm and collected and not move a muscle for the sake of your own life while someone you love is dying right next to you and the person who killed him is still pointing a gun at you and shouting at you. Can't even imagine.
