    “This is very personable.”

Unlike Trump, who's more misshapen-Cheeto-able than personable.

That’s not even a gaffe that makes sense, like “all intensive purposes”- it just demonstrates that she doesn’t know words.

OH FUCK ALL INTENSIVE PURPOSES I CANT.

Also “all of the sudden” and “irregardless.” And “nip it in the butt” (BOTH of my siblings say this). I get shudders.

      WORST. MOVIE. EVER.

In fact, it’s on my best movie list because it is SUCH an abomination it circles back to being enjoyable again.

I joked earlier that Trump is not a aware that he can’t force anyone to be his running mate, but I honestly didn’t realize that he literally didn’t know that. I have to admit I’m becoming a real fan of Trump’s ultra authoritarian way of dealing with these people.

I can see armed guards forcing federal appointees into Senate conference rooms for confirmation hearings. Potential nominees for federal judge ships and cabinet positions being held at gunpoint and forced to pretend like they want to be there.

I liked the part where she was like “lots of people say they don’t want to be VP but then they usually accept,” as though saying “hey, I love the job I have right now and am focused on it” is the same as saying “I have withdrawn my name from consideration.” It’s like nobody over there has ever (a) been involved in a political campaign; (b) read a book about a political campaign; or (c) seen even half of an episode of any television show about a political campaign.

Or even engaged in run-of-the-mill office politics, or know how to speak to a person in authority, or had to think three steps ahead to keep grandma from saying something fucked up to your Chinese boyfriend at Thanksgiving, or any of the other five thousand ways non-sociopaths engage with other people in the world.

God DAMN it! Is it that hard to get a spokeswoman who can actually speak English? Trump’s Eastern European “wives” have a better command of American than this person.

No, for Christie the best Springsteen lyrics have to be “The highway’s jammed with broken heroes on a last chance power drive”.

God help us if Trump wins. I mean that for all the usual reasons, with the addendum that of course, if he does win, no one reasonable in the GOP establishment will be willing to work for him. Thus, when he inevitably losing interest in running his own presidential administration, the kind of people he brings in to do the job for him will be... I don’t even have the words. Remember the kind of cronyism that tarred the Bush administration? Worse. A million, million times worse.

Actually, I think the opposite. They’re holding him at arm’s length now, but if he stumbles to victory, every dirty trickster in the party will rush in because he doesn’t know what the fuck he’s doing and they’ll suggest shit and he’ll just nod like he knows what they’re talking about and the next thing we know abortion will not only be illegal but punishable by death and everyone will be required by law to carry a gun.

OK, extreme, but I fully believe that other GOP forces and not Trump, will assemble his cabinet. He’s that clueless.

You know the legends about how the Illuminati take every new president into a secret room and show them the secret footage of the Kennedy assassination that shows the real assassins on the grassy knoll? And then they turn to the President and say “We did that. We got away with it. Here’s your agenda for the next 4 years.”

I have this image in my head of Corker being introduced to Trump and his smile turning slowly into a look of dumbfounded horror followed by a panicked sprint back to the car.

Right- basically Corker was like, he’s probably better in person or something. And then he got there and was like, nope, pretty much the same. Trump was probably a dick to him on top of it. I imagine that he comes off like this is some huge prize for any potential VP pick, and he doesn’t seem to have the social skills to act all interested in the guy for a few minutes.

Pretty much. As Josh Marshall put it:

...Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN)...was what we would call in the technical lingo the only normal pol currently being considered. Last night he introduced Trump at a speech in North Carolina, said what an awesome guy he was and then proceeded to watch him toast Saddam Hussein and accuse the Attorney General of the United States of accepting a bribe.

Hot take alert! Corker was never going to be picked because he’s too damn short (5'6"). I caught a little of that rally the other day and Trump and Corker looked VERY awkward standing next to each other. (Trump is 6'2".) Same goes for Jeff Sessions, who I think is even shorter than Corker. Bad optics. I don’t think this is a problem for any of the female short-listers. I assume Trump is a lot taller than Mary Fallin or Jodi Ernst, but we expect men to be taller than women so it doesn’t look so weird.

That is a fair point to make since taller candidates tend to win. Newt is 6' and Christie is 5'11. I don’t know how tall Pence is, but he appears to be nearly that tall.

Ernst and Corker are out. Cotton is too damned ugly. Carson is a sleeper (pun intended) pick. Cruz is smart enough to avoid the flaming trainwreck.

My bet is on Newt, simply because Christie is too fat and Pence is a relative unknown. Plus, out of all the possible VP picks, Newt has something to gain (publicity) and nothing to lose, so he’d actually take the gig.
