Things the police can execute black people for in the year 2016:

    selling CDs

    selling cigarettes

    stealing blunt wraps

coming back from a bachelor party

    being in your driveway

    walking up your stairs

    etc etc etc

He wasn’t killed for “selling CDs”, the cops got a 911 call about a guy with a gun arguing with people. Guy was a sex offender/convicted felon and you make him out to be a saint.

My husband is a black man, a college graduate, a former semi-pro football player, an Army Retiree, with no criminal record, and who has a semi-professional job... but I still worry one of these days that headline will be about him.

We didn’t have children by choice, and I don’t regret that, but there are a lot of days I wake up extra grateful I don’t have children, thinking, “Thank god I’m not raising a young black man and I’d have to worry every single god-damned day about his safety out in this world.”

Andsome of you might think that’s a little ridiculous, that it’s not like cops kill a black man every single day and so it’s wildly unlikely it’ll ever happen to my husband. And you’re right. But that’s little consolation every time I see these stories and think, “That could have been my husband, or my son, or my sister!” and my heart breaks a little more.

Actually, I don’t think that’s ridiculous at all.

If anything, it makes me question why you would want to live in a country that does that to your psyche.

Is it wildly unlikely though? I know men just like your husband, pillars of their communities, who carry their Harvard University ID to give to cops “by accident” when they get pulled over so they can show that they’re “the good ones.” My black friends raising kids are all boring, middle-class professionals living in the suburbs and they have the “what to do if you get pulled over” talk with their kids.

You're not crazy to have these thoughts, and that's insanely fucked up, and I don't even know what to say.

Trayvon Martin was not killed by a police officer. Why do you continually make this mistake.

Well, there are so many young black men being killed by cops, it gets hard to keep it straight sometime.

So literally facts don’t matter when you’re making an emotional argument? I mean I know a lot of people believe that, but most won’t come out and say it.

That’s almost always the case with these things. Poorly trained combined with not seeing their victims as humans, but as some sort of rabid animals.

I have no faith anymore that these murders will ever stop, no matter how many lay dead in the streets and how many family members give tragic eloquent speeches about the people taken from them.

Tamir Rice was to police killings what Sandy Hook was to gun control. If those incidents didn’t turn the tides, nothing will.

Seriously, I still can’t believe the killing of 20 little children did nothing for gun reform. What’s it gonna take, gunning down a baby ward in a hospital? Maybe if they killed a puppy...

[racist flips to page 44 of Racist Handbook. Section is titled “How to respond when cops shoot a black man.”]

In the event that the police shoot a black man, choose from one of the following arguments.

    a) he should have listened to the cops. What kind of idiot doesn’t listen to the cops ?

    b) cops are doing gods work they protect us everyday.

    c) the victim deserved it*

*use C when it is so obvious that the cops murdered the victim. Scour his past. Check his Instagram. Did he have a criminal record? If there are no pictures of him with a gun, you may use someone else, as it is all the same.

I was going to make a snarky comment about the police, but then Alton Sterling’s 15-year-old son started bawling and I broke down crying myself. And just watch his murderers walk.

From the original article to which Gawker linked when the story first broke: (bolding mine)

State Rep. C. Denise Marcelle, who was briefed by the police chief, said that the officers were wearing body cameras but the cameras fell off during the struggle and did not capture the shooting.

Then we would like to see the footage that the cameras did capture at that time, to corroborate their story.

Also, if both cameras fell off, that suggests their anchors are crap.
