I like how the white progressives here are okay with laughing at the kid in this clip, but they get up in arms when a clip goes viral that features a black person.

There are plenty of examples like the video above— white people acting really stupid or eccentric on the local news, in clips that then go viral— but whenever there’s a black person involved in one, the white progressives jump up to scream “Racism!” at the top of their lungs.

Take this clip of the incomparable Sweet Brown, for instance:

    Funny clip, adorable lady.

Yet when Gawker covered this footage, here’s how the humorless (and mostly white) progressives here reacted in the comments:

Am I the only one who finds the popularity of this sort of thing (Bubb Rubb, Hide Your Kids guy, Leprechaun in the Tree guy) offensive? Seems like a lot of white and/or privileged people laughing at the unfamiliar dialect and mannerisms of others.

No, you are not. But apparently we are just being “uptight” about it. I’m getting the same gross minstrel show vibe as you are.

Attention “clever” white people furiously scrambling to get an AutoTune’d version of this clip posted: Stop. Just stop. I know its oh so tempting, what with all of those ‘Sweet Jesus’s’ and other random “hilarious” lower class ethnic-y gems being thrown about..But come on...Rise above it, just this once...One more ‘Bed Intruder’ making the rounds just confirms to me why you are so attracted to clips like this in the first place. “Ohh, I LOVE when those people act all black! Its so great to see them behaving like they were born to.”

If “Dear Sweet Brown” Had the educated demeanor and crisp, perfectly ennunciated diction of, say, Clair Huxtable, this clip would never have caught on. In fact, it would’ve made it near impossible to undertake this comedic “other-ing” of her story (ie.’Ha-Ha Those earthy ghetto folk! They sure know how to make a bad situation funny with their offbeat yet simple minded observations..Those black neighborhoods I’d never dare live in are simply rife with comedy gold!!!Cheers to them!)

And to all those that think this is ok because you managed to find some video of white people acting like “rednecks” or “talking funny”, here’s what I say to you: In a vacuum, in a perfect world where african-americans are treated equally, and not judged or discriminated against in all aspects, are not gunned down based on appearance or skin color, are given the same opportunities in the workplace, have unemployment numbers that mirror the national average instead of nearly doubling it, are not gunned down while being unarmed like white americans, are not stopped n’ frisked like white americans, are given equal education in the public schools, are basically treated like everyone else, then yes, it’s okay to laugh videos like this.

With the 24/7 race baiting that Fox News and the far right has been doing recently (Zimmerman, Back panthers, Rev. Wright, etc) I really am not in the mood for this to become big.

And progressives wonder why people find them humorless, virtue-signaling, self-righteous bores.

The main cool thing about being Canadian is that we’re not American.

My 9 year old daughter asked if I knew how to “dab” and if she could teach me how, so I had an instant, massive stroke until she started doing some ridiculous dance move and I yelled unnecessarily loud and made her sit in her room until I could collect myself enough to Google that crap.

It’s still very off putting. And she got some popsicles, and an explanation of my actions from the parental nonsense generator.

But, hey, I’m also genuinely stoked for this guy! Like, super second hand stoked here! I wave my metaphoric rally flag for him!

If my nine year old started doing any of those dance moves, I'd ground him until he was 35.

The greatest trick this kid ever pulled was a 900 Ollie heelflip mctwist but it was last summer and only his cousin saw it and you don’t know him.
