Of course it's not just her— she has to think about her entire crew. I'm sure there are many young women of childbearing age in her show.

There’s a possibility that Matt and Kim’s voices could kill mosquitos.

I saw them last year. They were really fun and got the crowd super pumped. I don’t really listen to them a lot but I love this song:

Coincidentally, Colombia was just elected host country for the next World Cup and Summer Olympics in a re-vote.

I’m wondering if there will even be an Olympics after Rio.

    It’s strange.

This was never included on her tour schedule, so was it even official? She’s got festivals in November included on her schedule. This was never announced or confirmed. Her name isn’t even included on the site’s statement, just that the headliner cancelled. Sounds like they wanted her for the show, and never got confirmation. This was the festival flyer:

This could have been quite a festival! At the same time, now probably none of them will get Zika? :/

Considering Bogota is at 8300 feet and it’s literally impossible to contract Zika there (if you stay in Bogota that is) since the mosquitos that carry it can’t/don’t live that high, I think you are right that something else is going on here. When I first saw the article I thought maybe it was in Cartagena or Cali or somewhere like that, but Bogota? No.

Health first. Slightly terrifying that the Olympics in Rio is still going ahead...

But Zika is present in Rio (I agree with you). It’s not present in Bogota because the mosquitos that carry it can’t survive at that altitude. Lauren’s article mentions that the CDC says that Zika is present in Colombia at altitudes below 6500 feet but neglects to mention that Bogota is at 8300 feet. It’s perfectly safe - if Zika is all you’re worried about, that is.

You DO have to travel through the areas affected, though. Mosquitoes attack quick.

According to the CDC, the mosquito that causes Zika only lives in elevations under 6500 feet. Bogota is over 8300 feet. Bogota has had no endemic cases. Realistically, it’s probably safer than South Texas or South Florida.

There’s also no citation that Rihanna pulled out over Zika, just a guess from a local radio station. Sloppy logic and sloppy reporting, all the way around.
