It would’ve been nice if Lady Mormont hadn’t completely forgotten the female, trueborn Stark in the room during her rousing speech :/

Need more ladies behind the camera of your bloody battles? Want more women involved in the making of your swords and axes and bearded hotties? My friends, I implore you to watch Vikings. It’s lush and gorgeous and dramatic and employs awesome women in front of and behind the camera. The female characters are well written, complicated people with realistic goals and drives, be they queens, sheildmaidens, princesses, or slaves.

You’re the third person I’ve seen recommend this show. What channel/streaming app is it on?

Only caveat I’ll give is that I felt some stuff in the last two seasons felt a bit sketchy. Like how Aslaug went from the gradually warming princess in Season 2 back to cold again in S3 and 4. It seemed as if there were missing eps or something. And I still have no damn clue what the Yidu subplot was about.

If I have learned anything from my years of being a lady it is this: Ladies are gross and have cooties. No circles or dots will cure this affliction.

ALSO, isn’t broadcasting cooties from the talky box a crime punishable by law? WHO WANTS TO TAKE THAT CHANCE?!

Well, GoT fans are pretty demanding. Maybe they're trying to keep quality up.

I think you are forgetting a little known, HILARIOUS show called The Big Bang Theory.

They can’t have women vetoing their sexy rape torture porn fantasies. Am I right? Guys?

Funny, but, now that the show is just about entirely off-book, they’re not doing those anymore. Not only is it not rapey now, it isn’t even porny anymore either.

The books have a lot more rape than the show. That really was down to George.

Someone a good deal more determined (and more obsessed) than I will no doubt do a similar analysis of the relative porniness at some point...

Are they still killing newborns in front of their mothers and stabbing pregnant women in the gut? That may have been what did me in a few seasons back. (I was nursing an infant. Probably didn’t help).

The EW article says Miguel Sapochnik isn’t returning this year. Which is a total bummer because he directed the best damn episode this season, possibly the best episode of the whole series.

The only acceptable excuse is that he’s directing all of season 8, Cary Fukunaga-style.

Ugh, and Mark Mylod, who has directed pretty much all of the worst episodes of the past two seasons, is back again.

It wouldn’t bother me that they’re all men if I thought they could do a respectable job. While there are plenty of talented women directors, it remains a male-dominated profession. That, itself, bothers me, but because of it, I’m not inclined to call out one production in particular. It’s an industry problem.

However, I do not think that these men can all do a respectable job. Mark Mylod, in particular, is a disaster and should never work on this show again.

Today in news that is utterly unsurprising: film and television still sucks for women, especially if they aren't actresses.
