    I really like Amber Rose. She’s bomb and amazing they she is giving these women a platform to tell their stories. Especially because let’s face it, law enforcement and the legal system is practically never on the victim’s side.

    I also badly wish I lived in a country where things like slut walks would be allowed :-(

        I admit I came to the comments to find this sentiment.

        Setting the Ian Connor issue entirely aside for a moment, I wonder why there’s so little backlash to Amber Rose repeatedly (now and in the past) calling this event “my SlutWalk.” I understand that it is indeed a specific Amber Rose-branded Slut Walk that she organizes herself, but there was an entire grassroots Slut Walk movement that happened before Rose ever came along and gave it her imprimatur.

        Not being the type of woman who finds anything personally empowering about Slut Walking, I’m not really invested, but I do wonder sometimes what the women who started the movement (and the thousands who participated) feel about Rose’s co-optation of it, because she acts as if it’s something she thought of herself.

        I’m really REALLY sickened by the cult of personality around Amber Rose on Jezebel.

        This women has repeatedly said problematic shit about other women, homophobic shit about men, and co-opted the Slut Walk movement to her agenda of re-branding herself as the ur-feminist of our time.

        I’m not trying to dim her shine, I just want a LOT more clear-eyed looking at her and her consistent routine of wanting attention and money. It’s great when a celeb gets “woke”. But that doesn’t mean they’re suddenly GOAT and we have to bow down. For instance, I love Beyonce’s intersectional feminism. But she still does a lot of questionable shit that is worth calling out.
