Can we please let this woman rest in peace? I’m sick of the constant parading her family does and the MAC collaboration is just gross. Her ex husband makes me want to barf with all the saccharine crap he posts on FB.

Wow. That’s a bit much. I haven’t seen her family do any parading and as far as the MAC thing goes, people admired her beauty. They want to look like her. I am just not seeing the need for such a reaction from you.

Holy FUCK for a split second just looking at the headline I thought this was Selena Gomez and for some reason that made me irrationally angry. I don’t even dislike Ms. Gomez. I don’t know why I had such a strong physical reaction. BUT I loved this Selena so yes, yes, yes. YAS!

So this is a good excuse for me to watch the movie tonight, yes? I always like a good opportunity to sob uncontrollably.

In all seriousness, this is awesome and way over due.

I was working at EMI at the time and I totally remember being called into the conference room for an emergency meeting the day she was murdered.

That was a weird and awful day. I had stores calling me and buyers were crying. Terrible.

Hollywood Walk of Fame Stars are bought and paid for not by the Walk of Fame people or the city of Los Angeles, but by someone connected to the celeb themselves: Typically a studio will pay for a star, especially if that celeb has a film or other project to plug (if you’ve ever thought it coincidental that a celeb just happens to be getting a star right around the time they have a movie opening? It’s not coincidental). It’s also the reason why, yes, you sometimes go, WTF? A star costs $30,000; here’s a portion of the nomination form:

All of which is to say, whichever music company is still earning royalties off of Selena’s music? They could have stepped up with the funds to pay for a star long ago (and not for nothing, when it cost a lot less than $30,000; I remember when it used to cost like $5,000, and it wasn’t that long ago). Would be interesting to know if perhaps it was a contingency of fans who paid for it.

I’m kinda feeling compelled to focus on the fact that this wasn’t already a thing and how much of an appalling oversight that was but really I’m just relieved that some good news is coming along and I’m rather happy about this. Its nice to hear. :)

The whole process is bizarre and political. I'm pretty certain you need to pay for the star (some ridiculous amount of money) which is why most star ceremonies happen when someone is coming out with a new movie or album, their studio or label pays for it and then charges it under promotion.
