I always have to laugh at the type of response that amounts to “x group are crybabies that can’t handle shit” and meanwhile can’t see how ridiculous it is that they are so upset and aggrieved over the issue/ change themselves. So, you are a little crybaby bitch, too, right? Like if the name is such an unimportant, nonissue, why do YOU care?

If myself and 5 other people named Caroline had a business for years, and our titles were “Sales Caroline” and “Marketing Caroline” and “Operations Caroline” but our names being Caroline had nothing to do with the business we were doing, and we hired a Katie, I don’t think it’s cry-baby PC trigger Obama culture to say “Oh, maybe all the titles shouldn’t presume that we’re named Caroline”

      “Sense-making Caroline”.

This is largely (okay, entirely) unrelated, but your analogy reminded me of the time my sister got a job at this store and they had another employee with her name and they decided that wouldn’t do so they made her go by a completely different name at work. Haven’t thought about that in years. Snort.

There were two Kailyns in my Kindergarten class in rural Texas, so one went by Kailyn and one went by Ka-ee-LEE-in with an exaggerated drawl. It worked tho!

“But on the other, it’s a direct reflection on society’s crybaby political correctness.”

Says the crybaby complaining about a job title change which happens all the fucking time in federal agency jobs.

Christ almighty, men are so sensitive and emotional.

I genuinely laughed out loud at that quote. He doesn’t even realize that the cry baby culture he’s talking about is literally himself and all the other men who can’t deal with a job title unless is quite literally has the word MAN. Maybe he would prefer if we called it the crymen culture?

I think it’s hilarious that whiners about “political correctness” exemplify all the traits the claim to despise. Thin skin, obsessive need to control language, generally insisting on inane nomenclature. Like, this change shouldn’t even be called “political correctness”. The name was changed because calling a woman a “man” is weird, not because it’s offensive.

We’ve just gone through it with our anthem in Canada. They voted to change “in all thy sons command” so it's gender neutral. Oh, the freak outs. Meanwhile the anthem we sing now is nothing like the original and the original was gender neutral. But outrage, etc.!

“On one hand, the name changes from ‘man’ to ‘person’ or whatever they want to call it doesn’t really matter. They could call mortarmen bakers for all I care,” said Sergeant Geoff Heath, a Marine rifleman and combat veteran, in an interview with WaPo. “But on the other, it’s a direct reflection on society’s crybaby political correctness.”

Cool. Then from now on we’ll call you a riflewoman. I mean, you wouldn’t be a crybaby about it, would you? Since the name doesn’t matter.

Sergeant Geoff Heath, Riflewoman, U.S. Marine Corps.

I vote we change all the “man” to “woman” and see how these dipshits feel about a default gender being specified.

Yep. I would bet that everyone I’ve ever heard defend the continued use of the term “mankind” would flip a table if humans were referred to as “womankind.”

Back in the 80s, our (liberal) church got a woman for our minister. She liked to say “humankind” in place of “mankind” and it drove my father up a wall. My mother would always say to him, “What’s the difference?” and he never had a good reason, he just really hated it. It just stuck in his craw. The crazy things men’s egos get wrapped up around.

What kills me even more is that, in the military, we change the names for things all the freaking time, and usually for no discernible reason. This is a change that actually makes sense and this guy is complaining about it.
