    Why I, a public sector worker, desperately need a union: I just found out that my employer, a state university, has been underpaying me for the last three years, due to a misreading of my employment contract on their part.

    When I contacted my department’s HR rep about this, he said, “I’m not sure what we can do about this retroactively, but we’ll definitely fix it going forwards.”

      I read my contract fine, which is why I have been fighting to get correctly paid. The department is the one who misread my compensation.

      Even the ruling on immigration was a pseudo win. With Scalia alive it would’ve set a nationwide precedent against the Obama policies. A 4-4 tie means other districts can ignore the ruling.
