Yeah, for real, why does Kara think nobody uses Metro? Why the hell would we be expanding it if no one used it?

The people who say “no one uses it” are usually the people who don’t use it. It’s not packed 24/7 like NYC but it gets really full at peak times.

I wish they had recognizable celebrities doing the voiceovers.

“Who’s that shilling?” is a favorite game around here. I wish they had a Shazam for it.

    Also, gruesome.

They need to make a PSA so AHoles don’t blast their music on the train. We all don’t want to hear your jams.

Can we pass a law that it's OK to push someone down the escalator if they're just chillin' and not letting people walk by?

As a lifelong LA resident, I say it’s a damn shame they even have to make the videos. But for whatever stupid reason, people are still ALWAYS trying to beat the damn train to the crossing. There are at least 5-6 accidents a year on the Blue Line (LA to Long Beach), because some idiot can’t wait an additional five seconds for the train to pass. He or she just HAS to cross the tracks RIGHT NOW.

I also recall how a blind man got decapitated a couple of years ago falling off the train platform, which is why they put in raised bumps on the platforms so that blind people could tell where the edge is.

So yeah, the videos are kind of needed.

Except that it wouldn’t save that blind guy, because you know, video.

As an urban planner/former intern architect, I find it hard to believe that there would be any public transit platform in this state that doesn’t have truncated domes (the raised bumps). They’re required by code for people with disabilities.

Honestly, they should just play that episode of Homicide: Life on the Streets with Vincent D’Onofrio in their stations, on a loop. That will keep commuters far away the edge of the platform.

I stand so far away from the edge, I’m practically still in my apartment.

omg a teacher had us watch a “making of” documentary about that episode and i am now forever terrified of being in a situation where i’m trapped but they can’t move me because my organs will fall out. also terrified of train gaps.

You'll just have to settle for Johnny Coldblood over there stepping the fuck over her dismembered corpse, chill as can be.

Nobody in LA is going to step over a body like that, not without sending images via multiple social platforms first.

All safety videos and signs need to be demonstrative.

Like these signs where I live. They need some blood or brains or something:

That sign seems pretty straightforward. Don’t turn your bicycle’s front wheel at a 90 degree angle into a small rut immediately before another small rut while wearing a wok on your head. I get it.

If they want to increase ridership of the train, all they need to do is show videos of what it’s like on the bus. The train is a DELIGHT.

I took the Blue Line to Long Beach and it was okay. It took a really long ass time though. (I'm Chilean and I'd say our trains are better, but your bus systems are 500 times more awesome than ours)

Blue line is the worst line, imho. It’s also one of the oldest. Try the new Expo line and you’ll have a different outlook.

Years ago I ran for the sky train once with my baby in a snuggli on my chest. My foot turned and I tripped and SKIDDED into the train compartment as the doors closed behind me. I did land on my baby (she’s fine) but I had to sit on a train car absolutely FUCHSIA with embarrassment at my stupidity and misplaced priorities.
