Yes riot gear for.... well i was hoping to make some kind of snarky comment... but nothing comes to mind... There is no reason for that gear what so ever.... The most damage anyone in that crowd can do to one of the officers is make them think “yanno, maybe homosexuality isnt a sin, maybe these are just people”

It’s not for the attendees, it’s in case any Orlando-shooter wannabes come out to rain on the parade.

The police aren’t worried about the Pride supporters. They are worried about another Orlando.

    ***HOT TAEK ALERT***

Parades are the worst. And they should all be cancelled.

Though I can find it in my heart to maybe, maybe allow a Halloween Parade. Possibly give every other cancelled parade one, and only one, float in the Halloween parade and just call it a day.

I’d think, given the sheer number of street parades and festivals, the NYPD would have more festive uniforms for those events. Sure, they need to be easily identified and such, but those boring black uniforms could be something so much more pleasing.

I know there’s no budget for event-specific flair, but you could go patriotic or city-flavor. Like NY parade protection uniforms could have a big Lady Liberty logo and flag helmets with laurel branches as crowns and definitely sparkly red, white, and blue shirt cuffs and boots.
