Has she thought of trying to get a job for one of the Kardashians?

I mean not to be all practical and adult and all, but that seems like the perfect solution to her um “stan” dilemma.

Also, if I ever hear the word stanning again I will scream at y’all to get off my fucking lawn.

That’s a great idea for Myleeza (BTW, Myleeza Mingo is an awesome name), but if I were one of the Kardash*, I wouldn’t do it. Super fan-turned-employee immediately makes me think of Selena and Yolanda Saldivar.

Hello, my name is April, I’m 27 years old and still stanning for Britney Spears. It has changed in recent years, I’ve been stanning hard for Lana Del Rey. Though I can say, since I turned 27 on April 13th of this year, the Instagram “YASSS QUEEN” posts have dwindled significantly.

I also stan hard for Godard, Anna Karina, and F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald and I will never ever shut up about them.

The stan life is forever, y’all.

As you can see from my avatar, I stan for Sebastian Stan. And barring him doing something gross I don’t see that changing anytime soon!

Also, I’ve been watching a lot of Teen Wolf and I’m feeling the urge to stan for Tyler Hoechlin rising.

I’m watching Archer right now and read that whole thing in H. Jon. Benjamin’s voice and now I can’t stop laughing.

      Try it, it’s great.

slang for being a super fan. it comes from the Eminem song “Stan” in which a crazed eminem fan killed himself.

This girl is brilliant. I couldn’t snark if I wanted to. What she does now may not pay, but it’s probably prepared her really well for her career and I bet she’ll kill it. Good for her.

Yeah, I remember being obsessed with certain bands back in the day and spending hours online sharing concert photos and discussing gossip, etc. I was definitely a stan. Frankly, I feel like a person’s teenagerhood/young adulthood is missing something if they were never obsessed with some celebrity or another.

I also think it’s kind of interesting how the roles of groupies from back in the day have been so romanticized, but stans always get made fun of. Were groupies any less obsessive? Are stans, who follow celebs on the internet instead of irl, somehow worse?

OK, serious question here. I have been a reader of Jezebel for a long time now, but lately, it has been super painful to scroll through and see at all the non-stories. Is it just me, or did this site get really bad at some point? I never ever came here for celebrity gossip. I came for the informative essays and posts on news that affects women... But that doesn’t seem to be the standard anymore.

Sorry if it seems like I am throwing shade. I am genuinely curious if this is just me.

I started a fan site when I was 19 and I still run it today at age 24. I completed 18 classes online and it was then and still is, a release that works for me. I’m a sw student now and it’s part of my self-care. People might laugh, but I learned about research, about web design and about how annoying it is when other people routinely steal your work with no need to credit you (you tracking down the info - which can be difficult when the actor is not very famous and is not mentioned in trade papers - and them just cutting and pasting your post with no credit since it’s “just” news). It just works for me *shrug* With that said, the intimacy that social media has given fan site admins now is really intense. There are teens/adults that sit there all day obsessively tweeting their idol and practically orgasm when they get a reply. They tally notable followers, likes, comments etc. - it’s so weird. I have a friendly relationship with the person my site is about but I’m very clear with that boundary - we’re friendly, not friends.
