      Kylie, through makeup and plastic surgery, has mastered the ability to look older. Of course teens love her—most teens want to be seen as adults, and actually physically looking like one helps in this regard. Unfortunately, it makes the rest of us a lot less likely to cut them any slack, because we expect people who look like adults to act like adults.

      How does a White girl so effectively manage to look so ethnic? She could be mistaken for Latina, Armenian, Persian, etc.

      *note: I know how she does it, but its really pissing me off in terms adopting it. I almost feel like she is doing some sort of brown face. Am I judging too harshly?

        No, you are exactly right. She is doing brownish face, complete with fake lips. She wants to look “exotic” which means, in this case, mimicking some of the features and styles of Black and Latina women, even down to the skin color and full lips, and telling all the “haters” to shut up when she’s called out on it.

        It all makes me feel sorta awkward and sad looking at her, because it’s clear her first inspiration is Kim, who’s so ethnically ambiguous that most people still can’t pinpoint her ancestry despite it being part of her name. With her and her sister being very obviously...white, it sort of became imperative that they become something...more than that. A lot of critics considered Kylie the ‘bland’ or ‘ugly’ sister, so now this is what happens.

      Save yourself a trip to Kylie Cosmetics and head on over to the paint section of your local The Home Depot to recreate Kylie’s look. Not only can they custom mix colors (bespoke shellac, kids!) but it comes by the gallon (economical!). Couture + cost-conscious = win-win
