    Are there any departments that even bother to teach police how to do anything but whip out a gun and escalate a situation? This guy should have shown up, seen that there was no problem, and told the assholes who called that we don’t have “white” and “colored” swimming pools anymore, and they needed to get over it.

    Nothing about this situation required him to raise his voice, let alone pull a gun.

      As far as I can tell they also teach them that any interaction could instantly escalate into a deadly gun battle, so if you want to ever see your wife and kids again you have to get the jump on the bad guys (everyone who’s not a cop) and go in screaming and shooting from the start.

        There is no accountability for cops. I can only imagine they are the worst criminals because they can and DO get away with any crime they want. Is there literally NO crime they could actually be held accountable for?

        You can’t even look at a cop and think he’s* an honest man. That’s just 30+ years of television propaganda trying to trick you into thinking cops are “good” guys. If he’s a cop, you have to assume he has a long list of crimes he’s already committed and gotten away with, simply because he can. Terrifying.

        (*Cops can also be female. Same applies.)

            Jesus......can you imagine as a parent watching someone handle your child like that? I feel furious and I don’t even have kids. It’s just insane, there’s no possible excuse. She’s half his size and I’m pretty sure doesn’t have a gun in her bikini. Not to mention she’s a CHILD.

            I think this is a pretty positive site, all things considered. There’s bad news, but there’s also good news, and silly news, and science news, etc. But I feel like there’s something that makes me feel like Miles Dyson almost every day lately.

            It’s bad enough that this happened, but then to have people in charge say, “No....this is fine. We accept this behavior.” just literally makes me sick with worry. If a little girl, (I mean, she’s tall, but wasn’t she like 13?) in a bikini can get treated this way, who is safe from authority?
