I love the fact that the guy is hiring illegal labor on his own construction projects and claims to not know, but he plans to somehow find 12 million illegals working for other people and deport them.

That’s the beauty of his immigration plan:

Step 1: Hire them to build the wall.

Step 2: Oops, you’re on the other side! See ya.

      Step 3:???

      Step 4: Profit.

But wont they be on the other side with all the ladders they need to climb back over? Unless he plans to launch military raids to destroy the ladders, in which case I can find no faults in the plan.

Unrelated to the article but this shit angers me so much:

the company paid $56 million rather than face criminal prosecution

Why do we even have corporate laws? Oftentimes the penalties are less than the benefits a company receives by breaking them.

So, they can buy their way out of criminal prosecution, silly.

Per the link, the guy who was in charge of the company is facing 20 years in prison. The fine settles the charges against the corporation only, which is a separate entity. If the government had gone to trial against the corporation they would likely ended up with a fine anyway.

The cheapest room in this monstrosity is going to be $550 a night. Who would wanna stay there when you can stay at the Hay Adams down the street for $300/night?

I’m sure there are people who’d pay that not to be associated with Trump. Dude is running for president, and has to sue people to force them to work with him.

I’m actually really curious about availability in the DC market for more luxury hotel rooms. It’s not like wealthy visitors are staying at the Motel 6; we already have nice hotels here.

Not defending Trump, but it’s hard to put the blame anywhere other than on Lend Lease here.
Unless his management team is insisting on specific dodgy subcontractors, which sounds unlikely.

Yeah, if you've ever built anything, you would know this isn't really on him. You hire a general contractor to finish projects. You don't go into the minutia because the purpose of hiring the general contractor was to avoid handling the details.

Exactly. And LendLease, dodgy record and all is still a Top20 contractor.

They wouldn’t be the first GC to try and get around prevailing wage rules.

My goodness, I want this cock-knocker to be convicted of a crime during this ‘campaign.’ The idea of seeing him absolutely humiliated in the public eye is just too desirable. I’d pay anything. I’d cash in my Israel bonds!

How much is the empty chair on the construction site being paid, though? $1000/hr? $2000?

I’m starting to get the impression that Trump might actually be really bad at managing pretty much everything he is associated with.

But I thought that he always hired the best people? Isn’t that what he said? That he may not know dick about dick but he knew how to hire “the best” because he has done so for decades? Remember???

It seems that he just doesn’t. He explanation for every single one of the lawsuits that have been filed against by former employees or vendors is that they didn’t do the job right or in a timely manner (even though he either tried to or did hire several of them after there was already supposedly a problem with their work). Over the years there have been a ton of these type of cases. And now here is another one! Clearly, he cannot fulfill his promise to hire “the best” people for construction or wait staff but I’m sure that when it comes to running the country he’ll try really, really hard to find “the best” people...and then appoint Judge Judy attorney general.

        Fucking con.
