“Cause baby now we got bad blood, you know it used to be mad love, so take a look what you’ve done, ‘cause baby now we got bad blood.”

One of the reasons I stay away from TS’ music. She’s well into her 20's and her music is still stuck in its teens.

That is the reason I listen to almost no popular music. I stopped being angsty about 10 years ago, but all the music is still about breakups and existential crises. I’m over it.

I’m not sure that’s a diss. If we’re gonna go mean girls, wouldn’t like ... Virginity by John Mayer be a bigger payoff?

I’ve always been terrible at subtlety, though, so ...

If anyone thinks Taylor Swift’s virginity was still in tact at the time she met John Mayer, they’re drinkin’ the Kool Aid at #Swifttown.

I could be wrong (and if so will get schooled with a quickness) but I think it hearkens back to the most fabulous of pre-millenial drag queens, and involves literal shade. There was a video of one glorious creature posing at the end of a runway, and another even more fabulous queen comes sashaying up behind her, pops open a HUUUUGE fan, and literally puts her rival in the shade. It was sweet perfection.

So it now means saying or doing something which might seem innocent enough, but which is definitely intended to cast aspersions on someone else.

      The foundation:

Learn it, and learn it well. Paris is Burning is an incredible documentary that I wish more people would see.

My interpretation of shade is an artful semi-veiled insult or diss. Sometimes more overt, sometimes not. And as BurnThemAll previously said, sometimes it can be in the form of a gesture/action.

    Yes.

    Yes.

    May this feud never end.

Also a question: are these two the Alexis and Krystle Carrington of our time?

Lol yes. I love how petty Katy Perry is.

It’s not mature or particularly dignified, but I am who I am.

Trouble is I looked to Alexis as a role model for how to be a woman when I was a pipsqueak. And today I am down for Taylor.

I don’t get how this is a burn on Taylor at all. Even if it was intentional it just makes Perry look kind of sad and obsessed. “Oooh, I’m gonna quote one of your song lyrics for the name of my perfume! I’m such a meaaaaaan girl!”

Barf. Anyone over 12 is too old for this shit.

Your assumption that their maturity is at a level beyond a 12 year old’s is generous.

It was alluded to. She said it was about business, she said it involved hiring people out from under her during an arena tour. It was well know that Katy had hired a bunch of dancers for Prism that had been working for Taylor on Red. However, it should be noted that they had worked for Katy before on Teenage Dream. I want to say Katy bought out their contracts with Taylor so they could leave, but I’m not 100% on that.

Then Katy made some twitter comments, but mostly stayed above it all herself. At the superbowl show, one of her costumes resembled the types of swimsuits that Taylor wears, but that seemed like a stretch. There were some other snide remarks involving Nicki Minaj and the VMAs? MTV awards? on Twitter too.

Then the Bad Blood video had Selena Gomez dress up like Katy. And had about a million other famous women in it. Now perfume.

God, why do I even know all of this? I need to rethink my life.

“If I were famous, I would spend roughly 50 to 55 percent of my mental energy thinking of ways to begin/prolong a feud with Taylor Swift. Wouldn’t you?”

Oh hell yeah. As a very much non-famous person I spend like 40% of my mental energy having a one sided feud with Tswizzle, I can absolutely step my game up if I get famous.

Recruiting away skilled workers is normal practice in pretty much every single industry in the world. Sorry/not sorry if that hurt Taylor’s feelings.
