Meanwhile, back in Sacramento (and also via LA Times):

A YouTube video in which a Sacramento Baptist church pastor praised the massacre of 49 people at a gay nightclub in Florida and called the victims pedophiles and predators was removed Tuesday for violating the website’s policy on hate speech.

The pastor, however, defended his comments Tuesday in response to the expressions of outrage.

The videotaped sermon by Pastor Roger Jimenez of Verity Baptist Church touched off a firestorm of controversy shortly after it was posted on Sunday. In it, Jimenez said that when he learned the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history had occurred at a gay club, he wasn’t sad. In fact, he felt quite the contrary.

“I think Orlando, Fla., is a little safer tonight,” he told his congregation, equating members of the LGBT community to sexual predators. “The tragedy is more of them didn’t die…. I’m kind of upset he didn’t finish the job!”

Jimenez also said if it were up to him, gays and lesbians would be lined up against a wall so a firing squad could “blow their brains out.”

Sorry, sick-ass excuse for a human being. And fuck his remaining congregation, too.

The Police intervened and rescued the victims from the lynching mob before escorting them to their homes.

Color me genuinely surprised. BTW, some context on Uganda from wiki:

As of January 2014, homosexuality is illegal in Uganda and carries a minimum sentence of two years in prison and a maximum of life. Sodomy laws from the British colonial era are still on the books, and there is an extreme social bias against homosexuality, with the murder rate for LGBT people being significantly higher than other groups.

Is it one of the countries that anti-gay US pastors visit to drum up hate?

Scott Lively is a US pastor that helped encourage the criminality of being gay in Uganda and in Russia. He’s called for the death of gays. He appears in an Anti-gay documentary with Rand Paul, Gohmert, and a few other Republican congress persons.

Kevin Swanson called for the death of homosexuals at a conference that Huckabee, Jindal and Cruz attended while they were running for president.

Pat Robertson called for gays and muslims to simply kill each other.

This is to say nothing of their (Republican) opposition to gay marriage, gay adoption, anti-discrimination laws, hate crime bills, that gays are pedophiles, etc.

Yo, you're on the wrong site to talk about religion, hate, and bigotry in one post. Hating on hatred is anti-liberal now! Wooo 2016!

Obligatory hot take: organized religion sucks.

Particularly: religion and stupidity really don’t mix well.

The fact that in 2016, people are still being punished, attacked and killed because a mighty and righteous and extremely contradictory God apparently tells us that man should not lie with man and thus gay people are going to hell is unfathomable. I only regret that I will not be alive to see the day that organized religion is wiped from the face of the Earth (or we cancel ourselves out because of it).

Don’t we have to be respectful of their culture because of all the multicultural tolerance BS? I’m all for taking someone’s background and culture into account when trying to understand their point of view, unless you come from some backwards, homophobic, gay-killing, shit-hole, and then they don’t get a pass.

Thank goodness we found some bad Christians to take the spotlight off Islam.

Because it doesn’t follow the “scary Muslims” story line that’s so popular these days.
