So I’m not a Delilah listening, but I will never forget when I was in high school (15 fucking years ago, kill me now) and my friend was tuned to her. The following conversation ensued...

Delilah: Hi! What can I play for you tonight?

Caller: *obviously on the verge of tears* I’d like to play [song] for my daughter. She’s been missing for the past three days.

    Delilah: Oh that’s terrible!

Caller: *crying* It’s been so hard. We miss her.

Delilah: So you have no idea where she is?

    Caller: No!

Delilah: So you don’t even know if she’s dead or alive!

    Caller: No!

Delilah: You don’t know if she’s hurt or kidnapped...

Caller: No! We want her home!

    Delilah: Okay, here’s your song.

My jaw was on the damn floor because it’s like “Holy, shit, Delilah, do go on about what peril this poor woman’s daughter could be in, Jesus Christ!” And the fact that she never once dropped the sultry Delilah voice made it so much worse! I was in full body cringe mode.

Knowing Delilah, I half expected the conversation to end with her telling the woman what she really needed was to light a fire in the fireplace, pour a little wine, and just take a night off from worrying to reconnect with her partner.

ME TOO. I roll my eyes at almost everything she says but there are a lot of times when I need total cornball in my life with a side of REO Speedwagon.

I love her. She’s cheesy, but also comfortably soothing to listen to at night. It’s very pleasant.

    OMG!

I actually talked to her when I was a teen. I requested “In Your Eyes” for someone special and she played it.

    Wowzers...

Did she ask you if the song was for a blind person?

This will make my husband very happy. Every time I would happen to have her on the dial and he would listen, she’d be berating some man who had called in with a sob story about his relationship, ripping him a new one. My husband would be all “She’s a man-hater! Of course every thing fucked up in relationships are a man’s fault!” He doesn’t like the music she plays, either. Can’t win ‘em all!

My husband is the one who listens to her. He is all about Lite FM, which...you wouldn’t probably assume looking at him. He does roll his eyes when the stories get too long and sappy, but I note that he also doesn’t change the channel.

Yeah, mine doesn’t walk out until he’s done listening, so he can get a good rant in. Husband read my comment and said this I forgot to put in that one time the convo went like this:

Caller: “I’d like to request a song for my wife”
Delilah: “oh, did you cheat on her?”
Caller: “no, she really likes this song”
Delilah: “and what did you do to hurt her?”
Caller: “nothing...I just wanted to play a song she liked”
Delilah: “well, you’re a man, so you must have done something to hurt her.”

Obvs my husband is a little more emotional and sensitive than he lets on! ;)

I read the title of this post by inserting "Love Someone Tonight" after her name. You are not alone.

My best friend and I usually drive places on Friday nights and listen to lite fm and she does “Friday night girls night” and we love it.

My favorite though was this young girl called and was talking about this boy she’d been hooking up with forever but he won’t ask her out but does he like her blah blah blah...any post college woman would’ve known what was up but we were all young and dumb at one point. Delilah goes “have you ever heard of that book he’s just not that into you? Read it! Now here’s your song”. She's normally so sweet and we were like damnnnn Delilah that was harsh!

I feel like that’s classic Delilah. I have never known her not to be rude. But with Lite Rock, so hey!

I have mixed feelings about Delilah. Sometimes I find her incredibly problematic. Other times she is obv just what that person needed. But I would be sad if she were no longer on the air so.

      Ugh I can’t with Delilah!

My roommate and I were just talking last night about how annoying her segments are.

One guy called in because he was completely heart broken over a woman so she said she was going to play him a song to make him feel better.

She played him “Big Girls Don’t Cry” by Fergie.
