    I mean, my fucking god. And Syrians are DEFINITELY the problem in this country, uh-huh, sure. Not guns or misogyny or homophobia or domestic violence. Just Syrian refugees! That’s it! No other issues need addressing!

    Just in time for the latest reasons to lose faith in innate human kindness — the FTS (Fuck This Shit) Bunker is now open for the summer season. The a/c is working this year, and utilities are once again being unknowingly donated by local churches and mosques.

    We have added a Scream-Into-a-Pillow room, a kitten pile & a puppy pile, and a fridge with properly sealed doors (no more spoiled leftovers!). Tonight’s movie is 9 to 5, & vegetarian/vegan meal requests should be entered by 4:30.

You’re embarrassed that it’s come to this and your expectations for success are so low that you’re numb to the ceaseless killing.       In my city we have had twice the number of murders as we did at this point last year. Over the weekend, an elderly woman two blocks away from me was shot at 10:00 am in a busy parking lot in front of a ton of witnesses. I keep hearing that crime is down, but it seriously doesn’t feel like it.

      I think we had two murders in a city of 1.4 million people last year. An American city of that size would probably have a hundred. There are certainly a lot of dickwads lurking around here too, it’s just not that easy to kill people without access to a gun, especially several people in short time.

      Thank you for this. I am currently having a conversation (turning into a monologue lately) with a guy that insists that it’s unfair that I and other feminists “don’t care” as much about violence against men as we care about violence against women. I told him I absolutely care but since most domestic and intimate partner violence is against women and that type of violence has patriarchal origins I speak against that more often. This statistics hopefully further prove my point.
