This show has been siting on my netflix list for ever! I’m going to have to hunker down this week and actually watch it uninterrupted.

Don’t watch it if you’re already depressed. I have to wait for the right mental place to see stuff like that. But it was really good.

It is probably the most depressing show on Netflix outside of Southcliffe and I love depressing shows. I needed therapy after Southcliffe.

No! This sucks. I loved the first season, but I cannot stand Nicole Kidman. She lacks all of the authenticity and relatibility of Elizabeth Moss.

the season will follow “Moss’ Detective Robin Griffin...”

I don’t see anywhere that Kidman is replacing Moss. I’m happy she’ll be (presumably) using her native accent, or one close to it. I just hope that they give her a part for whom “Has had too much work done” is not out-of-character.

Agreed, she is fake... and on Bondi?! Every shot will have the Sydney Harbour Bridge in the background? ;)

Unpopular opinion: the show would’ve been roughly 10000x times better if they’d cut the main character’s romance with Johno or whatever his name was. It was boring, predictable, and a general waste of time. I found myself skipping all of those scenes and enjoyed the show much more once I did.

I feel like the romance was like ‘eh’. It’s been a while since I watched the first season but I feel like that’s an accurate description. I don’t think it was necessary to the show, really.

Have you tried Happy Valley? It’s fantastic, if you liked this.

      Probably not an unpopular opinion.

Goody — maybe we can get some answers to the first season’s bizarre plot holes! Except we probably won’t.

I would love for a TV or newspaper in the background to give us some semi-update on Holly Hunter’s character. That whole thread seemed to come to nothing, but the character was great.

I had no idea there would be a second season. It seemed very complete when the last one ended. I loved it. Holly Hunter is everything. Though sometimes their girl camp had a very Tom Robbins meets John Irving (men writing about women) vibe.

yesssss - was introducing them with that whole story about the chimp supposed to make us think the women were crazy? indulgent? selfish? delusional? I loved the concept of Gigi’s paradise but when it came to specifics, it felt like the writers were judging the women’s traumas through a male lens. It was a frustrating element.

It looks like Kidman is turning to television in order to find good work. She also is in the HBO TV show/or mini-series Big Little Lies with Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley, Alexander Skarsgard, and Adam Scott.

Elisabeth Moss, Gwendoline Christie and Nicole Kidman. I was already going to watch the shit out of this. I am now going to super watch the shit out of this. Can it be more depressing than the first season? Probably! I’m pumped.
