I am personally a huge fan of “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now,” aka Celine’s Meatloaf moment.

God, this song is still one of the most incredible. And that video. I’m clutching my pearls right now, btw.

This was a JOY to read.

One time, a Scottish man jokingly tried to get me, a Canadian, to ‘apologize’ for Celine.

I’m sure they’re still finding bits of him strewn about Ayrshire.

omigod, I get so mad when they disrespect our Celine. She is a national TREASURE and they must treat her as such!

Seriously! Hands off Céline. Hell, here in Quebec she’s practically a religion. “The Church of Our Lady of the Chest Thump” or something like that.

One day I hope someone makes a Celine Dion biopic but told exclusively from the point of view of Sarah Miller as relayed in this review.

I can totally see it. ‘Beige Goldmine’. Céline could be Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Sarah could be Christian Bale, Ewan McGregor could be Ewan McGregor.

You got the sense that if you told her you were leaving your partner of ten years because you just had a feeling about that guy at the dog park she would clasp her hands together and tell you that she was so happy for you and that René had come to her in a dream to say he was happy for you too.

This is so perfect. Best sentence ever.

hahahah!!! i died at that too!

god, i just love earnest love for earnest melodramatic stuff...basically i love earnest love for people like Celine. My mom used to listen to “falling into you” when she cleaned the house. She’s definitely my mom’s, but I love her too.

My son is going to Vegas next month. I wonder if there’s any amount of money I can give him to go see Celine and get video of it for me now.

This reminded me of the many summer afternoons I spent with my friends in middle school, all of us with hair wet from the pool and freshly applied glitter on our faces, doing terrible karaoke that was at least 80% Celine Dion songs with our pathetic voices and even worse impersonations of her theatrics. Those were good times, and this was a highly enjoyable read.

She is so perfect for Junior High. I can’t ever thank Celine Dion enough for coming out with The Power of Love while I was in the depths of my desperate crush. (It’s also really interesting to listen to that now and to realize her voice has only gotten better since then.)

I agree completely. Some of the lyrics to her songs make me laugh now, especially since I’ve grown up to have a very (maybe too) practical view on love. But man, when you have your first real crush and feel like they are the center of the universe and you might actually die without them... her music couldn't have been more perfect.

I’m from Québec so grew up with Céline being an omnipotent being but I didn’t listen to her as a kid or anything (which doesn’t mean I didn't repeatedly hear all her singles from a very early age). Anyway these days I often have to have Céline documentary binges. They comfort me and make me cry (so shameful). The other day I told Mimimister that «no one makes me cry like Céline» and he threatened to tell people we know, he’s so cruel! I like that she has three accents in French. I like that she's really funny. I like her strange kitsch super-wealthy lifestyle. I like her outfits. I like it when she sings.
So thank you for this article, I can’t wait to savour it!!

This made me very happy. I’d much rather read about people enjoying things than snarking everything for snark’s sake (yes, I know which website I’m on). You do you and enjoy whatever music you want, guilt-free.

You should totally watch cartoons, though. Have you even tried BoJack Horseman??
