Is there a Ham4Ham for this musical? Cause I’m trying to go.

No, but you can buy tickets for a pretty affordable price at the box office or pretty regularly at TKTS. For all the people on this site who bitch about how expensive Hamilton tickets are and how badly they want to go, it doesn’t seem like people are actually interested in supporting theatre unless it’s trendy.

oh also, hamilton is trendy because it’s really fucking good and also probably the most relevant musical of our time, and also because it’s of new york, in new york.

Danielle Brooks as Sofia is casting perfection.

I really want to see the play, but the book has been sacred to me since I read it more than 25 years ago and I would probably just start sobbing as soon as the play opened.

this entire show has been enormous. Hamilton, the Color Purple, Spring Awakening, all the little mini shows outside the theater between acts... it’s been nice to watch beautiful art today after everything.

(side note - every time I watch the Tonys I’m like “why did I go to law school? why didn’t I keep pursuing theater?” and then I realized I wasn’t actually very good. oh well.)

ETA: this number from Waitress is also super fun!

      This is so true.

I have been having trouble stopping crying since I found out about Orlando, and these amazing performances back-to-back-to-back have really been a balm for the soul. Though so many moments have instigated crying again: Frank Langella’s acceptance speech, LMM’s face during Hamilton, all the ribbons...

yep. I have always felt really strongly about the power of music to heal, and the power of theater to transport and transform. watching tonight has helped me feel like there are a lot of good nice things in the world and not everything is terrible.

Cynthia Erivo’s voice is just crazy. There’s some kind of effortlessness/unstrained quality that I don’t think I’ve ever heard before.

I don’t remember - are they going in a diff order this year? It seems like they are trying to string out the Hamilton noms/awards (best actress, best actor, best musical) by getting “less interesting” awards out of the way (best play).

But isn’t it like all best actress awards together (play then musical) then all best actor awards (play then musical) and then best play (revival then original) and then best musical (revival then musical)?

I saw this Thursday. It was breathtaking. I cried a whole bunch. When Cynthia sang “I’m Here” everyone around me was crying - I mean EVERYONE. The two grown men on either side of me were audibly weeping.

okay normally I’m not super invested in the in memoriam segments.... but I never knew I needed to hear a string quartet cover of Seasons of Love. I NEEDED IT, believe me.

Not soundtrack, best score. Huge difference. He won for being the best composer on Broadway. That’s saying something.

I saw this when I turned 18 during it’s original run. Now I’m thinking it’s worth me going back.
