She should have the Eddie Izzard role. Or the George Clooney role.

    Stealing a necklace.

So not only is this a movie about how women are thieves, but it’s a movie about how women are not even competent enough to rob a casino and instead must pull off a mundane jewelry heist?

The sexism is strong with this movie.

The Hope Diamond* would have you know that 250 million USD is not mundane.

*Just an example, but I hope you catch my drift. No need to search for sexism where there is none.

They’re stealing a necklace from a fashion show. How the fuck is that not sexism? It has women so obsessed with fashion they steal a piece of it.

I know. Recasting male lead films with women isn’t quite the same thing as writing some good and compelling roles for women.

however: counterpoint: maybe if they keep making these “all women” remakes of other movies, all the MRAs in this damn country will rage-stroke out, and we’ll be rid of them once and for all.

I’d rather see an all-female Robin and the Seven Hoods, but that’s just me.

Here’s a British tv show called Maid Marian and her Merry Men from the 90's where Marian was the hero and Robin Hood is a stupid preening fool who is in love with her and follows her around.

That sounds like a lot of fun, but I was talking about Robin and the Seven Hoods, not Robin Hood. I liked it much more than Ocean’s Eleven.

its not a reboot its a spin-off, the fact that its a contiuation of the oceans 11 series makes it a spin-off not a reboot.

also Bobby you seem to be forgetting that in oceans 12 the boys steal a lot of jewlery too.

Also this makes me want a prequel of the Ocean family doing a heist which resulted in the imprisonment of Sandy and George. Sandra bullock as Clooney’s sister is perfect.

Still the plot is cringe and i can’t keep that Mulaney bit out of my head about a women’s version of ocean’s 11 not working

Worth noting, if that plot description is accurate: The necklace is only the beginning, as they then have to frame someone wealthy. Given that this is the franchise that introduced earthquake machines in order to rob a casino, I suspect the frame job will be gloriously overcomplicated compared to ‘drop it in his pocket when he’s not looking’ or something.

After all, the plot of (the hugely underrated) OCEAN’S TWELVE is basically, “The gang steals an egg,” and that has a plot so roundabout I think it took us as a society years to put together.

Have we put that plot together? They steal the egg from the train then spend days (weeks?) doing this other complicated heist and getting arrested and getting their families involved because...? Am I missing something that makes it make sense?

      Free idea:

At some point have one of the ladies look at the necklace and say “it’s zircon, isn’t it???”. This would be an amaaaaaazing tribute to the original Oceans 11!!!

The Rat Pack Oceans 11 was one of my very favorite movies as a kid. My brother and I used to recite on the reg.
