      Or mountain lions, or wildfires, or earthquakes, or mudslides... (I would assume). California is beautiful but damn if it doesn’t seem like the gateway to hell sometimes.

    I don’t blame the bear. I was up in there at the Explore JPL Open House that NASA was putting on last weekend and it was insanely hot. It says it was supposed to be 95, but it was a little humid which made it seem at least a few degrees hotter. My daughter’s cell phone said 110, but it didn’t feel THAT hot. If there was a pool available to the public at JPL, I would have jumped in.

    (Yes, the postal address for JPL is in Pasadena, but it’s within the confines of La Cañada Flintridge)

      Has JPL become more visitor friendly? I went once as a kid for a school fieldtrip, a long long time ago. We saw a replica satellite and some giant computer El Nino thingy that we all crowded around bc computers were cool (this was a LONG time ago). But other then that, meh.

      I was up there for the open house last year with my daughter (I didn’t get the tickets in time this year), and when we left, it was well over 100 degrees, and a helluva walk back to the car.

    I love these stories — reminds me of the bears in NJ who played for hours on a family’s swingset while the mama bear lounged in the pool. The little 3 year old of the house was crying ‘those are MY toys!” to the cubs, ha ha.

    Wait, a bear story on Jezebel? I thought the Jez/Deadspin swap was for April Fools Day only? I expect bear news to come from my trusted source for all things bears, Tom Ley. What next, Drew Magary hot taking a Beyonce story?....actually yes lets do that. I like that idea, nothing bad can come from that.
