That can certainly be considered child abuse, but it no longer counts as a crime against the dog.

How badly do you think those 8 judges needed a drink after parsing the arguments in this case?

    Jesus Christ, those poor girls.

Also, he was convicted of 12 charges and only gets 18 years in jail for abusing those poor children??????

      Frankly, that INFURIATES me.

On a related note, here’s the most fucked up thing I’ve read in a long while. I’m reading Governor Bradford’s diary of the first twenty years of life in the Plymouth colony, and late in the book he relates one episode in which a teenage boy was caught sodomizing a farm animal. He eventually confessed to relations with a number of animals, ranging from chickens to a cow, all of the animals being subsequently slaughtered while he was force to watch, before their carcasses were buried. He was then executed by hanging.

Meanwhile, a man convicted of rape around the same time was sentenced to be whipped. He did not receive a harsher sentence because his victim was the only witness to the crime, and the law required at least two.

    Happy Thursday everyone!

I clicked on this article thinking it was going to be something semi-amusing. Then I saw that and all hopes of amusement were thrown out the window, onto the road, and repeatedly run over.

Whatever you do, don’t look up the different classification levels of child sex abuse in the UK. I wish I could erase that shit from my brain.

“That can certainly be considered child abuse, but it no longer counts as a crime against the dog.”

I always wondered about these laws. Outside the context of abuse, things like this peanut butter trick are pretty dang sick and creepy and gross, but I can’t imagine it actually does any harm to the dog. I mean, we even have farmers and zoo vets jacking animals off for their sperm – they’re actually sexually engaging these animals, and no one raises any ethical questions. I think the penetration standard makes sense, since that’s when it gets distressing and painful for the animal.

What has my life come to that I bothered writing this out? I hope you guys are super appreciative of my helpful insights into this crucial political matter.

Aww! I appreciate you, too, and I especially appreciate the clever expansion of your screen name, which was clever to begin with. ;)

The peanut butter thing is actually A (presumably largely urban-mythical) Thing, apparently; I distinctly remember when Boo got a service dog on OITNB and... well, yeah. Notably, it was played for laughs, and it was in no way suggested that Boo might have been mistreating the dog by... feeding him peanut butter. *ahem*

      I feel dignified.

Today’s reason to not go on a killing spree: Bullet the “housebroken” Bison advertised on Craigslist has found a new home with people who will be building her a house of her very own. (They are also working on setting up a therapy ranch for people with PTSD.)
