Her speech, with its references to Seneca Falls and all the history that came before, was in perfect tune.

Friends are posting pictures of their daughters online, saying “she’ll never grow up in a world where a woman presidential nominee is crazy talk.”

I’m not supporting her because she’s a woman, I’m supporting her because she’s the best and most qualified person for the job, by a long shot. She was my senator and I voted for her twice, and she did a helluva job for NY. And she’ll do a helluva job for this country.

But yes, the fact that a woman is now the nominee of a major political party in this country, well, hallelujah and WHAT TOOK SO FUCKING LONG?!

Took my almost 4 year old with me today. She helped me feed the ballot into the machine and I explained that I was happy to vote for a women to be in charge of the country.

Then she told me it was time to color. Because we all know who is really in charge...

I’m waiting for someone else to say Yay, Hillary! so that they can shoulder the brunt of the anger and conspiracy theories.

Fuck, it. Yay, Hillary! This is a big deal and I hope you incorporate a lot of Bernie’s ideas and kick Trump’s bigoted ass.

It’s normal to get upset when your candidate comes a bit short. I promised myself that I won’t get annoyed at the Bernie supporters too quickly.

But yeah, the kinja kluster klump might be an accidental blessing.

Thank you so much for saying this Lauren. A lot of people I care about are Bernie supporters. I get that it’s going to be a disappointment for Bernie supporters. I really do and I respect that. But please for the love of all that’s holy, if you actually care about a progressive agenda, don’t let that that disappointment keep you home in November.

As a Bernie supporter who will be happy to vote for Hillary, I suggest you remind them that (before things got acrimonious between them), Hillary and Bernie both said during the early debates that they agreed on most things even though they did have a few fundamental differences.

I had a nice glass of wine and cried some happy tears during that speech. It’s a nice night!

I also cannot WAIT to see her on stage next to Trump. She is going to rip him apart and he is going to crumple like a toddler. A toddler who hates women. It’s going to be deeply satisfying.

In less than a month it will have been 240 years since America declared its independence and this country began. In those 240 years there has not been a single woman as a presidential nominee of a major party. ABOUT GODDAMN TIME.

I keep thinking, if you don’t understand why this is important, you’ve never been one of two women in your PhD class of 15. Or one of three women in your cohort at work. Or though, maybe I’d want to do this in my career, and then remembered that 90% of people in that position are men. I cried the whole train ride home from work watching clips of Hillary speaking.

For real. I voted for Bernie today (as a Socialist who voted Democrat for decades, it was cathartic to finally vote for someone who came so close to winning), but I’ll be damned if I didn’t hesitate and just think, “Wait. I know I don’t agree with her anywhere near as much as him politically/economically, but damn, it’s a woman who could be president.” It was many seconds’ hesitation. And though I knew today would probably be the day Sanders would concede, I was pretty damn elated that a woman could be president. I still am. It’s a pretty heady feeling. I’m enjoying it a lot.

I started this primary season as a Sanders supporter and now I’m pouring myself a nice big glass of wine. I'm enjoying the fact that my daughter is going to grow up in a world where a woman is a nominee for the presidency. A world where most likely Hillary Clintom will be president and she will be able to remember it. Tonight is so damn important and I’m glad #ImWithHer.

I said basically the same thing. I was a Bernie supporter, even voted for him in the Indiana primary, but I will be happy to vote for her in the general. And, similarly to you, I have a six-year-old daughter who is already very interested in U.S. Presidents. The fact that she finally can aspire to be one herself without anyone thinking it can’t be done is amazing.

Same here. I voted for him and I still prefer some of his beliefs (although solutions are a whole different game). I now realize that Bernie was important this election because he set forward a progressive movement that is likely to help more progressive candidates down ticket, but this presidency is Hillary’s. She is the most qualified person for the job at the moment, and I don’t know what else to type because I’ve had 3 big glasses of wine.

      To Hillary!

    IT’S TIME.

To my Bernie-friends: I get it. It sucks to lose. I remember hating Barack Obama and everyone I knew who voted for him 8 years ago. I remember vowing to be a PUMA til the end because my candidate was better and I was too hurt and morally pure to tow the party line. But my pain waned and by November, I was ready and excited to vote for him. And in 2012, I enthusiastically voted to reelect him because I was happy with the job he had done. So to Berners - lick your wounds, go stab your Hillary voodoo doll, and when you’re ready, we’ll be waiting for you with open arms.

This, the PUMAs annoyed me so damn much. Hell, I voted for Sanders this time and still don’t think Hillary is a great candidate but in the coming week it will be time to unite. As I said earlier in the thread— we can’t judge Hillary by the standard set by Obama— she can be a better President than her husband was even if she doesn’t reach Obama’s level.

Eight years ago I was accused of voting by my skin. This year I was accused of voting with my uterus. I dunno, it seems like they have a pretty good track record.

(Sure it’s a small sample size, but people use a goddamned octopus to pick World Cup results so I’m feeling pretty good about my odds.)
