Meanwhile, the only thing that kept me from eating a whole tub of Ben and Jerry's last night was being too lazy to drive five minutes down the road to the grocery store.

This has become my weight loss strategy. Go grocery shopping once a week when I’m well fed, and don’t buy any junk. No matter how much I want a chip or frozen coconut greek yogurt bar (soooo good), I will never have the energy to get it unless it’s already in the house. It’s working pretty well.

The Earth's circumference is just shy of 25,000 miles. Even if this bird was migrating to the opposite side of the planet and back it shouldn't have taken more than 25,000 miles. This bird went 35,000 miles out of its way. I can't find that kind if inefficiency inspiring.

You remind of my friend who after watching the amazing Morgan Freeman voiced documentary on penguins said, “ They're such stupid animals ! Who lives like that ? “

Yay for the bird! I was about to be salty and say “ANIMAL DOES THING THAT IT HAS EVOLVED TO DO” but it's not like that small-ass bird spent the trip simply gliding in warm sun.

And yay for scientists! The only type of beacon I'd attach to these birds, is the one that would let me rack up airline points.

      From Wikipedia:

“The long journey ensures that this bird sees two summers per year and more daylight than any other creature on the planet.”

In case you were wondering why (like me)

FTA: “The record-breaking bird set off from its breeding grounds”

He wasn’t just taking a leisurely flight. He goes back and forth every year to get laid. If my only chance of getting tail each year requires a 60k round trip, I’m taking it.
