I’m gonna put on my tinfoil hat here and resucitate that old conspiracy theory that the Clintons are behind Trump’s run for the white house (which would, of course, make them the best politicians of all time, if true!) Nothing else really makes sense. Even a spoiled little baby wouldn’t behave the way Trump is behaving. He’s running a fake, unstaffed campaign, saying blatantly racist things instead of the usual dog-whistles when he knows that Latinos are registering in record numbers to stop him, he’s spending all his time attacking his allies-this is not a man who wants to win. And can you imagine Trump having any interest in actually governing? No way. I really think he’s doing this to blow the GOP up from within. The Clintons promised him something (it’s not that far-fetched; he probably needs money. He’s always on the verge of going broke.)

Don’t feel bad that Hicks doesn’t answer your emails. Based on the previous article by Jordan Sargent, it doesn’t sound as if Trump’s campaign even has the resources and staffing needed to keep up with emails from reporters.

She’s not ignoring you on purpose, she is just a random street person inexplicably doing the job that most campaigns have a team of professionals to handle. Frankly I'm mildly surprised she even knows that the campaign is still going on; she certainly doesn't have time to watch TV or read articles about it....

I’m not sure why Gawker would even expect an email back? I’m no Trump fan, but we need to learn to accept Gawker for what it is and not what we wish it was. Gawker not a real media outlet (its just Rage-a-Roni for young progressives), its political view is inconsistent/confused at best, and anything Hicks says will most likely be de-contextualized and snarked to death. If somebody dedicated significant resources to harassing you all the time, would you want to interact with them?

Those are good points, but I don’t think that Trump really would see much of a difference between Gawker and, say, CNN based only on how they treat him. He and his team are notoriously bad at even routine press functions such as communicatig Trump’s message to reporters and surrogates or even keeping their press detail clued in on where he wants them to be.

Besides, Gawker’s politics coverage isn’t really that far below standard. We live in a world where CNN Anchors routinely read tweets from cranks and uninformed nobodies on the air for minutes on end and a world where Bill Kristol and Jeffrey Lord have huge platforms to reveal how little they understand about the world.

In just this one particular case, I appreciate the click-batey nature of using a picture that implicitely suggests to your reader that Omarosa is his new Political Director.

“Never heard of him,” Trump campaign press secretary Hope Hicks, who has never once answered my requests for comment, told the New York Times in an email.

That’s really weird she’s not getting back to you in a timely fashion. She seems so on top of things otherwise.

I’ve said it before: Trump’s management style is nonexistent. Paul Manafort is pushing the original staffers to the side by sheer force of will b/c Trump is uninterested in the actual management/mechanics of running a campaign. Trump refuses to pick a side and is basically letting the strongest personality ‘win’. Gawker loves to go with the ‘THIS IS EXACTLY HOW HITLER BEHAVED WITH HIS STAFF’ - while that is a roasting hot take (and good-ass Kinja), its inaccurate. Trump has a style that is more akin to post-Alzheimer’s Reagan, for better or worse.

In the prior article, Jordan talked about how there will be no material left for the inevitable campaign books, but I disagree. If this is the sort of thing that is escaping publicly, just imagine what the shit show is like beneath the surface. My guess is that it will wind up making The Wolf of Wall Street look tame.

I have a feeling that “establishment” Republicans who are more committed to political power than ideology are going to find themselves even more deeply embarrassed than they already are by the Trump candidacy when it is all said and done.
