It’s not like there’s a choice at this point. We go with the corrupt hack who was against everything before she was for it because the alternative is a sociopathic, racist, neo-Nazi, who will start the second American civil war. I mean, I’ll personally take up arms if Trump gets in.

I wonder why people find Hillary untrustworthy? It must be because she’s a woman and anybody who doesn’t support her is sexist.

I think you’re on to something here. I thought it was her shady past as a cattle futures trader and the lack of transparency in everything she does as well as a history of poorly thought out policy but nope, sexism all the way down.

A nice reminder that claiming society can only improve itself in increments is a concept that doesn’t apply to neoliberal economic pet projects or the military surveillance state.

When the Clinton campaign talks about things changing incrementally, it’s their polite way of telling you to shut the fuck up about things not on their agenda.

      Not true.

Hillary Clinton was against gay marriage until 2014. Then she became for gay marriage. Those incremental 30 years of hating gay people were just incremental years.

So tomorrow morning, when everyone who isn’t a foil-hatted crazy person has to accept that it’s over, does this weird impersonation of the GOP by the LIBRUL MEDIA end or is there still a well of sore-loser-ness that needs to be drained?

It’s interesting to read that you Americans aren’t fans of the TPP. I was working for a commodity board in another nation throughout the development of the agreement, and our observers consistently reported that it was basically dictated by US and Japanese negotiators. Like everyone else just sat back and waited for those two to hash it out and hoped they’d get a chance to adjust anything too disruptive to their own interests.

There’s significant differences between the American general public and the Americans who are in a position to inject details into the agreement.

Hillary will have my vote in November, but I will not enjoy casting it for her. She has not earned it, but rather is merely the lesser of two evils - a cliche so banal that I rolled my eyes when I typed it. But it’s the 1st time I’ve truly meant it, unlike in 2012 when giving Obama a 2nd term vs. ol’ Roms was incorrectly described as such (by me anyway). I am left of Hillary, so far left that I don’t recognize a lot of the supposed ‘liberal’ policies she is for. I have no faith or hope in her ability to be a truly progressive president, but only imagine a much worse landscape with her not as president. So, she wins, I guess. Yay!

Voting for the lesser of two evils means you still condone the evil.

We can bitch and moan and justify it to ourselves, but they have no reason to change if we keep buying the same fucking shit anyway.

There’s a little-known proviso in the TPP that makes me the editor of Gawker. As such, it is my duty, in the interest of full disclosure, to inform our readers that while I approve of the reporting in this matter, and other matters related to the way our government obfuscates its business, I do not approve, like at all, the way the staff has refused to submit FOIA requests for JFK’s nude pictures of Marilyn Monroe. Moreover, the vehemence with which some staffers, I will not name any names to be fair, take my suggestions that we request to see how a breakdown of anime vs non-anime porn by government office makes it difficult to work at Gawker. Nevertheless, I perservere so that you, our readers, can get the hottest takes on the interwebs.

“The agency recently claimed that it would take 75 years”. Dang, all of that time just to select a query with certain people in the “to” field? I’m pretty sure our IT guy (who isn’t the best) could even do that in a day or two.

Would there be classified or confidential information in emails to a federal trade agency from the Secretary of State on a public agreement that affects all citizens? I wouldn’t think so, but despite proclamations that our current administration would be one of the most transparent in modern history, it seems to be one of the most opaque. Everything is “classified” or “top secret”, when probably only 10% of it needs to be.

I dunno, this is a pretty presidential move. Subtly pulling the levers of power and manipulating information without drawing undo attention vs. screaming about latino jurists and advocating supporters to attack the media. It's almost like this is a glimpse into how different the two potential administrations might act once in office.
