I’ve not seen people this mad over simple math since I was told I needed a math tutor to pass 6th Grade.

I was and am a Sanders supporter who fully intends to support HRC when she secures the nomination. And I am far, far from a tinfoil hat wearing conspiracy theorist.

But the timing of this truly does seem more than a little fishy.

I think it’s less fishy if you consider the Virgin Island caucus and Puerto Rico primary that occurred over the weekend. Both of which she won handily.

How disheartening to see people turn off all their critical thinking skills for their wierd sense of team affiliation. Clinton isn’t your friend, y’all. You’re like one of those people who roots for Verizon. I haven’t seen people so excited for the status quo since they played “You’re in the army now"

“Critical thinking skills” ? The Bernie supporters are the ones who’ve been struggling with basic math for at least a couple of months now.

I mean, I think the amount of people who are still supporting Bernie based on his chances of winning the nomination is actually a slim number. Most people won’t be particularly moved by this one way or the other. Bernie’s campaign has a lot of symbolic value and he’s getting the chance to be a part of the process to hopefully maintain some of the leftward pushing he’s done on the trail.

It also needs to be said, loudly and often: He stands to gain nothing by folding early. By staying in until the last states votes he does nothing but strengthen his ability to help influence the party platform and shape the future of the party. If he had folded a few days ago, or even several weeks ago (as many called for him to do) he would have gotten the equivalent of a participation trophy and a pat on the head at the convention. By showing a willingness to fight it out to the end and to accrue as much popular support as possible, he’s making the party sweat a little. And despite all the doomsaying to the contrary, that is a very good thing. This is Sanders (and by extension the left wing of the party) flexing their muscle and using it to get a place at the table.

Listen, we know Hillary is almost certain to win the nomination, okay? But the superdelegates don’t even play a role until the convention. The way the media has decided to peddle this narrative about Hillary being pushed over the top, when she still lacks over 500 pledged delegates that would be required for that to be the case, is absolutely absurd. It’s misinformation, and it spreads falsehoods about how the system actually works on the Democratic side. The only reason to report this kind of nonsense, on the day of a huge primary contest in CA (which, whether it affects the outcome or not, would look really embarrassing for Hillary to lose), is to depress turnout.

But it is an accurate representation that the Democrats are a private entity who are interested primarily in expediency and have no interest in a candidate who goes against the nice synthesis of Kissenger and Georgie W Bush that is now the majority mindset.

“Apropos of nothing?” They just picked up the phone and called a bunch of super delegates. It’s called reporting. More are siding with Hillary because she’s won the popular vote and the pledged delegate race.

This is absolute bullshit. The superdelgates are not counted until after the convention. Therefore any declaration that includes them is deliberately misleading.

This can only be seen as a blatant attempt by the media to choose the nominee by suppressing the vote in states where there is still to be voting by making people believe that their votes mean nothing.

Even the DNC, which has been rancid in their blatant favoritism, has been saying that superdelegates do not count until the convention and to count them beforehand is wrong.

      What part of this:

Even the DNC, which has been rancid in their blatant favoritism, has been saying that superdelegates do not count until the convention and to count them beforehand is wrong.

makes you think that I’m saying that the DNC is counting superdelegates?

Maybe you should fucking read before just automatically dismissing something because you think it’s conspiratorial.

And yes, there are other sources, if you don’t trust wikipedia on this; it was just the easiest source to find in a hurry. They’re not being kept secret. The reason articles don’t generally list them is because there are hundreds of them.

“The news agency cited a survey of super-delegates, who do not actually vote until the convention.”

So, are you saying all the other delegates vote before the convention? That would be big, if true.

Also, Do Sanders acolytes believe that the Electoral College also votes on Election Day every four years, or do they typically refuse to name or recognize the winner of any Presidential election until the Monday after the second Wednesday in December?

My favorite conspiracy thing today has been Sanders obsessives saying they found parts of the AP story that were prepared several days ago, indicating a plot to drop this story on a specific day. Because, of course, a news organization like AP would never prepare materials for a story that is almost certain to occur. It's like saying an obituary written ahead of the death of Sumner Redstone means the obituary writer is plotting to murder him.

It’s been over for weeks. I mean, great for Bernie for continuing to try to move the conversation, and I truly hope that his ideological allies get elected to congress, but the idea that he could win passed a few states ago. Absent any superdelegate action of course, which the senator himself decried until he needed them, and which has literally never happened.

      It’s sort of interesting.

On the one hand, if the Democrats compressed their primary voting schedule, then what would have happened is Bernie Sanders would have been even more grossly annihilated than he wound up being. On the other hand, if you get a candidate who has lost by every meaningful measure but who also did a fantastic job fundraising and sees no future in a party he’s never really invested any time in, stretching it out is a bad look leading into election season.

When Sanders wins a state and the AP predicts how many delegates he’ll get from the state convention, he is happy to boast about that number. When the AP polls superdelegates and predicts how they’ll vote, he pretends that such predictions are journalistic hate crimes.
