In the sovereign state of Texas, climate change is a lie and federal aid/FEMA are big-government tricks to kill freedom. I’m surprised they even believe in the rain that’s befallen them.

Sorry the deaths of ten innocent people don’t move you. Must be hard.

No it’s okay don’t apologize. Though it’s sad in principle, it’s surprisingly easy.

I just moved to Houston 2 months ago...this shit is getting ridiculous. I had to unplug my emergency weather radio because it’s gone off well over a dozen times since I’ve been here. I lived in MA for the last 6 years and it went off a total three times.

Houston is such a huge city that half the alerts for Harris County are happening like 40 miles away

...lol as I’m typing my phone’s emergency alert goes off

ETA: Flash flood warning till 10pm.

Texas Hill Country low water crossings are ubiquitous and scare the shit out of me after the smallest rain. I’ve taken 20 mile detours to avoid them.

Well, you know. Gotta find the correct hyperbole. It’s not, though. They’re everywhere and I hate them.

I hope the NCO or officer who ordered them to go through that water faces charges, because I guarantee whatever training they were doing wasn’t worth this. But it’s the Army, so they’ll find a way to blame it on the Private or Specialist driving the truck, who was ordered to just shut up and do as he or she was told.

I was stationed here for 3 years and deployed to OIF2 from Fort Hood. The base is huge and exists in multiple counties, has 72,000 people working and living on it and is it’s own small city.

A large amount of the training area is not population and has only markers, cattle guards, and that’s about it. If this happened at a low point, it’s possible for a flash flood to topple a vehicle especially if it’s an up armored LMTV as it’s center of gravity is shitty because of the armor kit. Military vehicles rollover a lot actually to the point where they’ve to conduct training classes in what to do in the event of a rollover.
