Let’s speculate: Depp was doing well with his sobriety during most of his 14-year relationship with Paradis, in turn, it was also the height of his earning power and fame. The last couple years of his relationship with Paradis he slipped, went back on the bottle, cheated with Heard and married her - out of the blue. They were an awful fit from the beginning, a rising starlet wanting to get ahead, married a star that was a terrible, abusive drunk. It only took a couple of years for her to see that it wasn’t worth it.

Oh please the more likely story is that she was out for money to begin with and has been planning this from the start of their relationship, faked all these injuries, eyewitness accounts, and text messages to ensure a big payday.

More like petulant, narcissistic man-child (at best). I swear, he wears all those ratty scarves and a hundred necklaces and rings and gross hats to detract from the fact that he’s a middle aged man. But we know.

Guess he meant the kind of little lost boy capable of repeatedly overpowering and injuring a grown woman. You know, that kind!

Reading those texts makes me sad. If they are actual texts and not faked, they show he was abusive to her for a long time and people were pushing her to stay with him. It sounds like he was either drunk or on drugs when he did abuse her.

Seriously. How do you justify sending texts like that to someone you know to be in an abusive relationship?? Why stop there? Might as well tie her up and drop her off at Depp’s doorstep.

My husband isn't allowed to drink whisky, especially Jameson, and he isn't allowed to drink rum either. One makes him an angry, borderline violent prick, the other makes him a weepy idiot. Unfortunately our daughter has witnessed both. Her views on alcohol have a lot to do with seeing her father become a shadow of the man she knows.

Idk, she’s been having a lot of these moments lately. She probably is sincere but she really needs to control her texting trigger finger.

I am shocked, SHOCKED, Depp hasn’t hit rehab yet in an effort to save his fan base. He must be beyond fucked-up, not listening to his handlers. Cuz you know that’s the first thing they told him.

“It’s rehab time Johnny. It’s your only chance in hell to salvage even a small part of your career.”

I saw Depp on a recent episode of The Graham Norton Show. He was as close to incoherent as one can be and still be on camera. He really needs help.

She’s safe now, no thanks to that jerk of an assistant who clearly was more concerned about Johnny Depp doing what he wants and getting away with it.

This all makes me so sad for her.

I went through a very public, messy break-up (obviously not nearly as public as this, but “public” within our circle of friends) and it was humiliating to hear bits and pieces of gossip that either he or mutual acquaintences spread. Having your dirty laundry aired is beyond violating. False stories are horrible, but true stories are even worse because you know they came from someone close to you.

I can’t imagine the bravery it must have taken for her to come out with this.

She’s only a couple years older than me, and the same age as many of my friends. Imagining any of them in her situation makes me want to cry.

I really hope humanity can make us proud and show her empathy and support, and let her get back to a normal life and career after this, whatever the outcome of their divorce.

Neither Depp, Heard, nor Deuters have verified that the texts are real.

Oh. Well then I ALSO have unconfirmed texts that prove incontrovertibly that Johnny Depp is actually McDonald’s Mayor McCheese after he got

So over a year before they got married she’s already being abused and yet still she marries him. I’m all too familiar with the cycle of abuse and understand why women stay, but this looks like a money and fame grab. I think they're both guilty as charged. I think he did it and I think she tolerated it for a payday.

If you actually understood the cycle of abuse you’d understand that it’s incredibly common for women to marry their abusers even after months or years of abuse. And with her being surrounded by people like the guy in the texts convincing her that it’s not so bad and he feels so sorry, it makes perfect sense she stayed. That’s what happens in abusive relationships.

Abused partners stay for a lot longer than that all the time for no hope of a payday. Not sure why once there’s money involved you’re stepping all over yourself to proclaim that it’s the real motivation. A year is nothing. A marriage to a super famous actor? That will help you try to overlook those moments when he treats you like shit, especially when everyone in your life is telling you to stay. You claim that you understand why women stay in the very same sentence that you state (without any evidence to back it up, of course!) that Amber is somehow different. Fuck off with that shit. Your only reasoning is that he has money. So abuse victims with poor men are definitely stuck in the cycle of abuse, but abuse victims with rich men are only in it for the money. Okay.

Maybe it’s time for you to do some soul searching about your proclaimed understanding of abuse. Looks like you’ll uncover some internalized misogyny and a severe lack of understanding and empathy for victims of abuse.

Women are not all gold diggers, and famous men are not all saints.

“Obviously he has no idea what he did or the extent that he did it,” states the woman.

This is such a bizarre way to refer to Amber Heard in this context.

I think they wrote that because neither Amber Heard nor the assistant has come forward to admit that the screen grabs are in fact from their conversation.

Right, but looking at the screen grabs they appear to be from Heard’s phone and the other texter is named “Stephen.” So if it’s not them, we actually have no idea the genders of either of the texters, so referring to the person talking about being abused as “the woman” doesn’t actually make sense.

(Of course, if it’s real it’s probably not actual texts but fake ones and so there is no “woman” and no “man” texting each other.)
