      It is a quick way to let other students and visitors be aware of the situation. I get what you’re saying, but most lockdown procedures for schools are available to the public anyways.

      I’m kind of surprised the phones haven’t been turned off. One of the active shooter scenarios at my university is “Turn off cell phones.” Because you don’t want a shooter to hear a phone in what you hope they believe is an empty classroom.

      They haven’t been confirmed dead yet. The LAPD is saying a lot of info getting out isn’t confirmed, so for now I’m going to try to remain optimistic. Still, agree entirely with the tweet you posted.

    We can all save a lot of time by following these simple steps for processing this latest school shooting:

    1) Pray for the victims and/or light candles.

    2) Urge that now is not the time to politicize this.

    3) Argue that responsible gun owners shouldn’t have to be punished because of a few bad eggs.

    4) Make half hearted plea for mental health reform.

    5) Turn attention towards more important matters like Benghazi and the emails.
