I guess that’s why Sanders and his supporters have lobbied Brown for months to endorse Bernie. Because they wanted the endorsement of a hippy boomer sellout.

Man you guys turn on your own like rabid dogs.

I, then, am the bizarro David French.

When my now-husband was transferred to Europe for a year in the pre-internet era I said, “When you get there, see if the city has a gay community center, it must, and maybe you can make some [implied: non-sexual] friends that way!” The city did, and he did. It is possible it was hookers and blow seven nights a week for him, I would have no way of knowing, but he returned to me in one piece drug and disease-free.

All this drama is about as real as WWF rassling.

Trump is going to pick another crypto-racist for VP, Mitt Romney, and unify the GOP. Together with their combined Mormon/Moron militia, they will forcefully take over the country.

The only hope for Democrats is to put aside their petty grievances about breaking up the banks and achieving world peace and unite behind a strong leader, whoever she may be.

The outraged reaction to Trump’s candidacy has led the right to puff up their failed candidates from a bygone era and try to portray them as elder statemen with broad appeal. It started with their abortive attempts to rally around Ted “Bundy” Cruz. (Admittedly they were too revolted by the thought of allying with him to actually consummate it given how badly they bungled their ploy in Indiana). Now Mitt Romney, bafflingly enough, has somehow emerged as the voice of reason in the GOP. Now they’re trying to portray him as some kind of elder statesman, a wise sage coming out of retirement to rescue the country. Keep in mind that this is the same guy who only *barely* beat Herman “999" Cain, Rick “Santorum” Santorum, and Rick “Oops” Perry.

Romney was the guy the GOP reluctantly, resentfully settled on back in 2012 when they were nuts enough to think that Herman Cain or Michelle Bachmann should be President but not quite delusional enough to believe that those people would actually win a general election. The GOP base has actually deteriorated past even that apparent nadir, to the point where they can support someone who is in his own way just as depraved and unfit as the Bachmann/Cain/Gingriches of the world.

No one outside of the Kristolsphere actually believes that Romney would have somehow fared better than the other establishment candidates had he actually run this year. Trump absolutely crushed a bunch of candidates who were just like him — a successful governor of a liberal or moderate state (Walker), a lifelike android (Rubio), an articulate and policy-oriented candidate with more money than some third-world nations (Bush). What does Romney have that these other guys don’t? What does Romney have that he didn’t have in 2012 when the party was rallying around nutcases and zealots?

It’s worth pointing out also that the only candidate who gave Trump a serious fight was Ted “Zodiac” Cruz, who is possibly the most extreme far-right conservative who has run in the GOP in over two decades. The reality that Kristol and co are seeing is that the base is hungry for an extremist, they’re hungry for a total whackjob who is going to go to D.C. and burn it all down even if it kills us all. They barely settled for Romney back then when they thought he was the only one who could beat Obama; he lost, and they’re not going to settle again. The Kristolgang can fantasize all they want but the GOP had the chance to choose a Romney — they had Bush, Walker, Kasich, Pataki, Christie, Gilmore, and probably a bunch of others I’m forgetting. They passed, and if Romney shows up now they’ll pass on him too.

Back in the GHWB years, Kristol was Quayle’s Chief of Staff and was often called “Quayle’s Brain.” I think that says so much about so many things.

I should have known better than to get excited when that lying neocon sack of crap said he had an impressive candidate. He was floating names like Condi Rice, Tom Coburn, and Stan McChrystal, and the best he could do was David fucking French?

All a 3rd party candidate has to do is take 5% from Trump in the rust belt and it’s over, but I don’t think this guy can do it.

I don’t think this non-entity can take .5%. The only way this episode could have had a more Bill Kristol ending is if Kristol’s very improssive candidate had turned out to be Kristol himself.

I tell you what. Go to your refrigerator and get a couple beers, sit your ass down in front of the computer, fire up Google, type in “alicublog david french”, go clicky-clicky, then contemplate him trying to sell this kind of bullshit to the swingin’ American swing voter.
