The biggest issue that I have with it is that it seems to be discriminatory against elderly individuals and disabled individuals who are unable to utilize an online presence such as Facebook,”

Ya, that’s not really the main issue.

Yeah, I think I’m going to take the opinion of a lawyer that specializes in tenant’s rights over your own.

I just scrolled down to say “they’re unilaterally amending existing contracts and this guy wants to bitch about discrimination?”

Before it gets twisted out of context, and in defense of the person who commented, “sperm,” s/he was talking about semen.

Admittedly, it’s an improvement over “first.”

      But not by much.

I agree. They should throw the addendum out and then sue the landlord for breach of contract if he tries to boot them.

You have to go to court to get an eviction. The judge would laugh this landlord out of court.

The fact that more and more businesses seem to feel it’s reasonable to put “non-disparagement” clauses of various kinds. SaaS and software companies have started slipping them in, sometimes under the guise of an overly broad confidentiality clause, and we’re seeing them in other industries as well.

I read an article about a dentist’s office conditioning treatment on the patient signing a copyright assignment agreement for any future reviews of the dentist’s office to the dentist. Then the dentist sues the reviewer for copyright infringement.

The landlord has to take you to court to actually enforce this (via eviction and/or recovery of damages). This shit isn’t enforceable.

True. Also, I like how the main concern of the tenant in the article was being make to “like” something that he wasn’t friends with or whatever the fuck. As opposed to getting potentially fucked by his landlord.

I mean, if they were to sign it then it could be. It would become a condition of the lease.

There are millions of elderly and (mentally) disabled individuals on Facebook. In fact, Facebook is 75% comprised of crazy aunts.

u seen how mad old people get when it’s down or Farmville is not working? It’s a notion that it’s a basic need that this lawyer is buying into.

I have a second cousin and an aunt that can help prove your theory.

(I found out that the second cousin is, like, super racist and not only unfriended her but blocked her completely. The aunt...uhh...not listed among my friends. She’s a Trump supporter.)

You don’t amend a lease without both parties agreeing to it. Take it from someone who works in commercial real estate leasing for a living. Or from anyone with a triple digit IQ.

That’s why pages of leases are initialed by both parties, and then the lease is signed by landlord and tenant and dated.

And you can’t evict someone for not belonging to a social network. WTFing Fuck.
