If others would follow his lead in saying what they thought, then the multicultural regime would be in serious trouble

Ah, the curious delusion of the anti-PC zealot: the belief that there are tons of people sitting around, wishing they could say “I hope you die, faggot,” but are restrained by the stern hand of college administrators.

Just curious, is “I hope you die, Nazi” on the list of illegal phrases in your head? If not, why? If so, are we to include other variations such as “I hope you die, National Socialist”? Just trying to figure out the semantics on what seems to be obvious to you somehow.

And was Rabois punished? The answer, as far as I can tell from the article, is no. His comments were simply condemned with......wait for it........additional speech. It's always so humorous how bigots are for unlimited speech until others use speech to point out their bigotry. Then the very act they are supposedly defending is somehow oppression.

I still feel that Gawker is reaping a comeuppance that’s about 10 years overdue.

I similarly still feel that Thiel should put his money where his mouth is, close up shop, and move to a twink-laden flotilla off the coast of Thailand. Move to Newfreeland, you sociopathic fuckstick.

It was ‘92. Calling somebody a faggot was about as controversial as saying “Don’t have a cow, man.”

It was only, what, 7 years after Eddie Murphy released his legendary “Eddie Murphy: Faggots be Checking Out My Ass” stand up special.

It sure doesn’t. We as a society have rightfully corrected course there. But it does explain why defending it in the context of the era in which it was said wasn’t that outrageous.

Gawker’s point is that Thiel’s support of another student twenty years ago doing hateful things is much worse than an international media company like Gawker doing hateful things today. Oh and Thiel’s apology for that is insincere but Gawker’s ongoing, but intermitttent, series of apologies and retractions — after the damage is done — means that jury awards against them are necessarily unfair and unjust, because some other guy did something bad, and therefore what Gawker did should be overlooked entirely, because look over there! Away from what we did and are doing. Just look away.

I fail to see how screaming “faggot I hope you die of AIDS” at someone could be constituted as constructive.

Especially given that AIDS is a disease transferred in a multitude of ways, not just through homosexual sex. These motherfuckers like Theil and Sacks always seem like the kind of douchebags who’d get the ever-loving shit kicked out of them after school or at a weekend party and as they lay there holding their busted nose cry out “MY DAD IS A LAWYER AND HE’LL SUE YOU!”

I truly hope Gawker goes the distance and brings out the big guns to combat this numb nut’s multi-million dollar fuckery.

Maybe If I was in an airplane that was rapidly losing altitude and the crash seemed imminent and my guardian angel appeared to me and thusly spake “I hope you die of AIDS instead” I’d take some comfort in the long life ahead of me.

I worked in Silicon Valley for a while but I was an old type of nerd who still did stuff like video cards so I kind of was outside the realm of influence of the Pay Pal Mafia.

That said everything I’ve read about this dude makes him seem really weird. Beyond yelling “faggot, faggot” weird. Like he has a warehouse where he keeps jugs of his own pee labeled with the date, humidity and air quality, and there are corpses from his other experiments inside the walls of his house.

Here’s this though. It was the 2nd thing I thought of after reading this story. I’m from near Canada. Sorry.

You’re really going to assert that Thiel is not happy with your reporting, Trotter, “in response to Gawker’s critical coverage of the technology sector” when you flat-out outed him?

Talk about a lie of omission! Fuckin’ Puh-leeze!

Ummm. There’s out, and there’s OUT. If someone is out to all of their friends and colleagues and family, they are already out. If Valleywag had been trying to out the guy, it would have been brought up directly, instead of mentioned in passing, as a subordinate clause, in a sentence about something else.

Are you being punished JK? Because these Thiel posts do not make you look good. They make you look stupid. And desperate.

Nobody is confused about whether Thiel is a shitbag. It’s just that some of us understand that whether he’s a shitbag is beside the point.

Watching you guys try to hit back at Thiel is painful. None of this has left a scratch on him. He’s a garbage person, and what he is doing is unfortunate. And yet you’re only making him look sympathetic. As is normally the case, Gawker is in dire need of an adult to manage this.
