The number of Johnny Depp apologists out there is so depressing. I know he’s a lot of women’s Manic Pixie Dream Man Forever, but Jesus. I don’t care if it was alcohol/drug-related and he’s a real nice guy when sober, I don’t care if she “provoked” him, I don’t care if Amber Heard is or isn’t a gold digger, domestic violence is never acceptable.

To me, it's painfully obvious that the picture is covering the brushing we saw in pictures and in court. Fuck apologists—they're pieces of shit.

The detail about Amber wanted a restraining order or her dog is quite chilling. To me that says she’s genuinely really fearful of his violence issues (honestly, not that I doubted her anyway). It’s such a horrible situation all round.

I’m kinda mad that they rejected the restraining order for the dog. I mean at least they granted it for her, but I have unfortunately just seen too many stories where anger is taken out on a pet.

Made me think of an article I read that highlighted the need for shelters that allowed pets. It said that some women would decline a bed at shelters that didn’t allow pets and stay in cars, or on the streets instead because they couldn't stand being seperated from the pet and feared for the pet's life if they left the animal. Often the breaking point that made the women leave was that their abuser threatened or hurt their pets. Sad. There should be shelters that allow pets

$50k is not a lot for him. And if they didn’t pool their money, maybe that’s the amount she spent of her own money on him. He is just looking more and more like a jackass. Just grant her the divorce and give her the money.

Oh and it's still possible to do things the day after you have been hit, duh.

So wait she’s just asking for a one time payout of 50k and not a monthly one? That doesn’t seem gold diggery to me. Seems pretty reasonable considering his net worth and her not asking for a portion of any assets.

If my husband smacked me in the face, having some lady time with my close friends the next day is EXACTLY what I’d be doing. This pic is proving practically the opposite of what Johnny thinks it proves.

I just left my husband of five years because his alcoholism was chronic and led him to be verbally abusive at times. He scared me because when I asked him to stop the answer was an empathic “no” and gaslighting me into a different place. I COMPLETELY understand her actions (inasmuch as one can understand another).

Wow. So, so happy you were brave enough to get out. I'm sure it's hard, but it must be such a relief to be free of all that. All the luck to you on your new life.

My father was/is the same way - alcoholic and can be very mean, especially to my mother (although he’s cut back a lot in the past year). It’s a hellish roller coaster to be on when you love someone when they’re sober but then despise them when they’re drunk

      Hope you’re doing well ❤️

If it makes you feel better, great. But Johnny Depp is not the only person who worked hard on those movies nor is he the only person who profits from them and there is no reason why you can’t enjoy them if you choose to. ETA: Like if a cashier at your local Starbucks turned out to be a wife-beater, you wouldn’t stop buying coffee at Starbucks.

I’m a divorce attorney and salivate when things get ugly in a Hollywood divorce. This one seemed to be gooood. But it's taken a really tragic turn. I hope she is able to escape this.

He’s gross. He’s been gross for a LONG time. Alright, so a boozer and a wife beater, I’ll add that to the list. But the thing that always turned me off about him is how accessorized he is. Like, look at any public appearance, and he’s always wearing layers of clothing and perfectly sculpted to appear unsculpted facial hair, and tons of necklaces and rings plus hats and scarves. If he had swagger, he could maybe pull off a sort of pimping look, and if he had flamboyance, he could maybe pull off a sort of sexy effete intensity. But he has neither of those things- he seems WAY too self-conscious all the time, so he always just seemed adolescent to me. He’s one of the celebrity crushes I just don’t get, especially as he kept looking this way as he got older. But Captain Jack- yes I get the crush for him. And Edward Scissorhands- yes I’d hold him in my arms. But Johnny Depp? Gross.

Yes. Which makes all the jewelry and junk even less appealing. You know it’s all going on top of greasy dirt just by looking at him, and he probably never cleans any of it. I can’t imagine what his ridiculous collection of scarves and hats must smell like.

Amber always looks fresh as a daisy. I wonder how she could stand it.

Good on Amber for getting away from a toxic, abusive marriage. Sounds like he completely unraveled post breakup with Vanessa Paradis. Anecdotally, when I was a P.A. for a tabloid tv show in the late 90s, I processed some interview footage with him and he was high as a kite. Even though the interview was for tabloid tv, it struck 20-year old me as grossly unprofessional and disrespectful. I still enjoyed the first Pirates movie, though.

Having worked the same job with similarly dickish people I can say it is that bodyguards job to know what floor he is going to and to have looked at a report on the buildings layout before going there. Either he didnt do his job right or the guy doing his hand over didnt do the job right.

Unless he was just hired as a status symbol to look big and scary and not actually be of any use beyond slapping designated people.

Part of this is security related, part of it is diva related, but its still the job. Also, theres no way there wasnt an NDA, also, if there wasnt, he doesnt seem very keen to work as a bodyguard again by breaking what is an implicit confidence.

But...fuck Kanye. He seems like a dickhead. I wouldnt work for him.

      I reiterate- Fuck Kanye.

But a once off payment vs being blacklisted from an entire industry is a bold move.

Maybe he doesnt intend to go back to close protection? Im always chuffed to see stories like these but I do think its somewhat unprofessional on an individual level.
