Off topic, but it’s a shame that Krusty’s bit with Sideshow Raheem gets edited out in syndication.

Depends on the system but I doubt it executes any files sent to it. So best guess would be a no.

I don’t like this. We can counterprotest in-the-flesh anti-choicers with our own pro-choice signs; we can’t do that with this AdSense bullshit. We need to get creative. How do we counter this?

It’s a good thought, but I’m worried that any laws enacted that would try to make this shit illegal would be unconstitutional. Freedom of speech, and all that...

I have this problem on Instagram. I have been bombarded with images of “3 month old fetuses” on my Discover page and it’s very disturbing.

Its possible that all of my dance friends who constantly post “Dancing for Jesus” memes are following these anti-choice accounts so they’re being suggested as something I might like (they’re not)

In addition, if I click on it out of curiousity/repulsion, I’m bombarded with even more the next time because IG provides “accounts similar to what you interact with”

That is horrible! The only thing I can suggest is to only post animal pictures and animal related hashtags. Then, suddenly, your homepage is delightful and full of pups and piggies and snuggling creatures!

:( gross. I have the opposite thing going on— I’m always bombarded with Planned Parenthood advertisements, probably because I talk about them/donate to them a lot. Maybe try purposefully clicking on a lot of pro-choice stuff?

The idea that anti-choice groups could directly reach women in abortion clinics or women who might be “abortion-minded,” is the brainchild of John Flynn, a Boston-based advertising executive. Flynn realized that geofencing could be used to target women and began selling the idea to anti-choice groups.

Ugh, so harassing women is this asshole’s Don Draper moment?

Fuck this guy. (just not in practice)

Well, now, we all know none of that matters. Whether you’ll be a good or willing mother is a non-issue— what matters is that you give birth to that fucking baby whether you like it or not.

And are people really lining up to adopt babies born to addicts? I wonder if John Flynn has a financial interest in foster care and that’s why he wants drug addicts to have babies rather than abortions.

Last week I found out I was pregnant, and began looking for my nearest planned parenthood. After I made my appointment and began looking up information about medical abortion, I noticed that the top search results were all from anti-choice organizations and related experience forums that were, at second glance, entirely bogus. The amount of money that must go into pushing these results high up in search engines must be absurd.

On that note, I’m taking the misoprostol in a couple of hours. Any advice on how to stay comfy? I’ve only ever had a surgical abortion before, so this is quite new. It is also a dizygotic pregnancy, and I was told to expect more intense symptoms. so. Any advice, really, i would more than appreciate.

Some women say it feels like intense cramps and it wasn’t too big a deal, but I had full-on labor contractions. I was all ready to have a quiet night in, watching movies, but most of the time I was on the bathroom floor, on my hands and knees. In that same year, I was one friend’s birth partner, and I accompanied another to a surgical abortion. Mine was much more like the former than the latter. I don’t want to scare you! But I wish I had known how intense it would be before I did it. It was really unexpected on my end, and I wish I had been prepared. Please make sure you have someone to take care of you while you go through it, just in case.

So...maybe PP should start targeting ads at Crisis Pregnancy Clinics, churches, colleges, high schools, methadone clinics, court houses etc.

“Feel trapped into continuing a pregnancy, unsure what to do?

You have a choice- here is some actual scientific information about abortion:

It is physically safer for you to terminate a pregnancy than it is to continue it to term.

Abortion is less likely to lead to future fertility problems than completing a pregnancy.

Most women don’t regret their abortions.”

      So what?

Short of writing “Hey, murderess-to-be, we’re gonna hurt you if you have that abortion!”, I’m not seeing the issue.

Most people see a number they don’t recognize, they don’t give a shit about the text message. And if you’re getting an abortion, you’ve been through the heavy intellectual and emotional lifting already.

The premise that this idea needs you accept is that women are not thinking their decision to abort through and have merely accepted abortion as an “easy” way out that they would re-consider if anyone challenged them.

I DON’T accept that premise. And neither should any of you. This whole text message thing is meaningless and will be ineffective.

You can only worry about it if you believe, as the anti-choice people do, that women seeking abortion are not thinking and are easily swayed by whatever argument present itself to them in the moment.

The problem with this is women who are anywhere near a clinic or have looked them up are being bombarded with unwanted bullshit. After having made the choice to have an abortion, you don’t need to be harassed while waiting for your appointment after having braved the protesters outside. And what of the woman who is there to abort after having been raped? The woman who is there to abort after being told the fetus is a disfigured vegetable who will die just days after birth?

This isn’t about being “challenged” or women being easily swayed, it’s about women not being mined and targeted for marketing that they are not interested in and can easily reach out to if they so choose.

I am a woman. I have had an abortion. And I wouldn’t want this crap inundating my phone.
