All things being equal, the frontal nudity ratio should be pretty near 50/50 genderwise. But are all things equal, though? Does your average woman really want to see dicks on TV as much as your average guy wants to see boobs?

Do we equate topless women to topless men or is showing breasts akin to showing a penis (if so, what is showing a vagina)? I felt like we were trying to make things more like the former than the latter in regards to people being topless IRL.

I mean the boobs in GoT is to appeal to horny straight men (and possibly some lesbians, but that’s obviously not the main demographic in mind). Can we (straight women and gay dudes) get a nice hard dick for once?? IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?

Is it better to make a Joffrey/Ramsay joke here or a Theon joke?

I forget why there was even a penis at all. Whose penis was it again?

Sadly, this is my reaction to most penis these days...

Somehow I missed that they actually showed him full frontal during the episode? I very specifically remember sitting there like “How dare they not do it!”

Clearly my blind rage, well...blinded me.

It amazes me that people don’t get that it’s not about seeing a dick, we’ve seen dick (Theon, Hodor, the angry peasants during the walk of shame) it’s about seeing hot, sexy, dick, just like we’ve seen hot sexy tits and ass. Even during the rape scenes at Craster’s keep, the women were hot because it was (disgustingly) meant to titillate. To my recollection, the only female body we’ve seen that doesn’t conform to mainstream beauty standards is old Melisande, and boners everywhere cried out in horror.

I want Jon Snow dick. I want Jamie dick. I want hot random dude in a brothel dick. Hard dick with nice proportions and a hint of glisten. Only then we will achieve true nudity equality.

There have been plenty of what I would consider “mainstream beauty standard” topless men in GoT, just look at all of the Dothraki.

I don’t have an issue with more penises showing up in GoT, I just find it odd how we compare which parts of which sex’s body is where on the totem pole. Seems like it’d be much easier to equate a man’s chest to a woman’s, ass to ass, crotch to crotch, you get the idea.

Men’s breasts are not sexualized as women’s are.

Umm, you forgot about Hodor (RIP)...’someone’s part giant’.

Also during Cersei’s nude shame scene there’s a dude who whips it out in front of her (who later gets his skull bashed in by the Mountain)

Also from HBO - Six Feet Under - my buddy and I watched through the whole series in a couple months, and every time a new episode started up and we got the “Nudity” warning for the episode, it was a bet as to whether we were going to see boobs or a penis. That show pretty consistently showed dick, though it was probably still an imbalance with more chesticles than testicles.

Also interesting to ponder - people seem to think that seeing a penis is more offensive than seeing female breasts, and there is always calls from people saying that there’s too much female nudity and not enough male nudity - and yet I don’t think we ever actually see a vagina in the show. Not that I’m calling for us to start getting shots of vagina’s, but it’s interesting that the response to seeing breasts (and occasionally a mons-pubis) is for men to show their sex organ.

It seems to me that one of the problems is the over glorification here, in America, of breasts. I wonder, if seeing breasts were not considered to be an act of female nudity, would there be people saying that there needs to be more balance between the sexes? Men are topless in the show too, after all.

It would be pretty difficult to show a vagina. You’ve got to actually insert a small camera in order to get a shot inside the canal. Which can be done, but it’s awfully invasive!

Did we see him totally nude or just in his see-through big shirt? I can’t remember and a photo search is surprisingly not helping.

That’s at least true within HBO, where dick should almost be a requirement (Girls, for instance, didn’t show a penis until this year)

Rude! Girls is Lena Dunham’s time to show off her body, not some penis!

The first penis I ever saw on a screen was definitely one of those 90s HBO after dark specials though, so...HBO will always have a special place in my heart dick.

Please tell me why the women on GoT are always shaved? Do men like the look of prepubescence? It just makes no historical/societal sense in the show. Ditto with last night’s big reveal.

I think it’s just really hard to find actors who don’t do that. And merkins never look convincing.

Absolutely agree on your second point. Pretty much every actress in Spartacus wore a merkin, and it usually looked very fake. I seem to recall the men usually being clean-shaven though (makes sense when you consider that their secondary job after being gladiators was essentially being sex slaves.)

      Also, great username/picture!
