Yeah, he’s only down by a few million votes. You think the people might have spoken on this, but hey, let’s keep whining about delegates.

I would never suggest that, comparing a primary election to an airplane flight, this would be the time to deplane, deplane.

are these considered “absolutely perfect impressions” in America? or is that just something you guys say to confuse International readers? Also, is this humor?

If you think these are bad ( and yes they are), one of the worst was in the 70's when Dan Aykroyd played Jimmy Carter on SNL.

It’s actually NOT rigged. The only people who think it IS rigged are those folks who can’t do basic math.

And let me say, perpetrating an “it’s rigged” meme only serves to suppress the vote, because people feel like what’s the point. So they stay home. And who does THAT help, I ask you? The very corporations and other establishment folks Bernie is supposedly trying to take on.

    Please stop this bullshit.

For most of these writers this is their first election.

No historical context, no wisdom, just juvenile “Revolution!” because it’s just so much shinier.

I wonder what the chances are of someone pulling a Jonestown when Bernie concedes to Hillary. Or worse, an Oklahoma City bombing. If there’s one thing crazies LOVE it’s an ‘it’s all rigged against us’ narrative.

Jesus. Why do I get the impression you’d love that so you can conclude you were right to see people who disagree with you as monsters?

Jonestown? You think people are going to commit mass suicide over this? Maybe a few, but I doubt you’ll see hundreds assembled poisoning they’re children and dying in a field.

I suppose an Oklahoma City bombing type of act would be possible, but those maniacs are likely to go off for any reason. It’d be kind of tough to worry about this causing that. I’m sure there will be a shooting or two, but how is that different from any other week in America?

This just goes to show how much SNL is off their game anymore. That skit had great potential. For a second there at the beginning, Bernie looks drunk. Then when he sits at the bar, he kind of goes into the same tired Bernie routine. Angry-drunk Bernie would have been fucking perfect. The great SNL crews of the past would have rolled with that.

The writing goes through phases. Last year Weekend Update got really good by the middle of the year, but this year has been pretty lame.

As soon as they saw a glimpse of Larry David’s drunk Bernie in rehearsals, they should have dropped whatever they had written beforehand. It’s as if they just get in their own way today.

Political parties are fundamentally primary election engines. That is, who ever said that primaries weren’t “rigged” in terms of generating the nominee of the party that the party sought to nominate? If you find this abhorrent then you really don’t want there to be political parties at all - a point of view which has some clear merits (cf the early writings of Thomas Jefferson) - but at best it’s a naive appreciation of the way things have always been.

I felt like this was one of the weaker political skits this season. It had so much potential and yet fell short for me.
