    From a VICE article (“VICE to Gawker” article):

    “Loath as we are to respond to their typical form of base, hit-job journalism, this time we feel we must send a message and correct the record, ignoring the author’s obvious and embarrassing emotional vendetta against this company, its success, and its senior management.”

    I can’t speak to the last point, but the “base, hit-job journalism” thing is something I’ve always fucking hated about Gawker. It’s clown shoes shit, and adds to a reputation that stains the occasionally great work that comes out of GM.

      At least Gawker is shameless in how they use their “Content” they find something that tickles their fancy and might get clicks say, hey winners all around, and then toss it out to their loyal Peanut Gallery and let them sort it out.

      It’s better than the forced bum fighting people either cheer and clap for and take sides and think they know whats going on.

      I dunno, I kinda respect that he cares to try and defend himself because it shows he understands how it could be seen as him shamelessly selling out (which it probably is.)

      Gawker on the other hand—outing random gay men, basically “raping” Hulk Hogan (if we are to go by Jezebel’s definition after that Fappening thing), and the shameless “brand alignment” of this very site—doesn’t seem to give a fuck.
