      I know a lot of the time it’s the natural, “Well, this horrifying thing wouldn’t happen to ME because I protect myself using xyz” but 1- This leads to irrational fears and a false sense of safety (i.e. fear of flying because that’s one situation where you have no control, instead of fear of the much more dangerous driving because you have a sense of control), and 2- The obvious victim-blaming is horrible horrible horrible (as you pointed out).

      I feel like those are qualities that should be expected from all adults regardless of sex.
