People who resell shit at absurd markups are the worst. Broadway tickets, limited clothing releases, when new Nike’s drop, etc...

    Fuck em. Fuck them all.

I remember when one of the limited designer lines with a big retailer came out, within a day the stores and online were sold out and ebay listings were popping up at ridiculous markups. Within a week the store announced they were restocking the entire line, and I laughed and laughed at all the ebayers who’d jumped the gun.

I remember when Target released some big designer at significantly discounted prices and lines were out the door only for people to get there to have almost everything swooped up by re-sellers.

Seriously, they are the lowest common denominator. They are no better than your commonplace ticket scalper who rips off a father and son trying to see a baseball game.

And that, ladies and gentleman, is how LaComtesse finally scored a ticket for Novemeber*. Now, if you’ll excuse me...

I’M TAKING THIS HORSE BY THE REINS MAKING REDCOATS REDDER WITH BLOOD STAINS!

*actually a friend got one for her and one for a friend, and that friend got one, too, so she offered me her extra knowing how obsessed I am: it was for real my Charlie Buckett moment in life...

My ticket to Hamilton is what’s comforting me through the maelstrom of best-friend’s-New-York-wedding related feels.

I’m actually wondering when the craze is going to even out, because I’d really like to see it. I’m hoping by sometime next summer.

I think it took about 3 years before you didn’t have to buy Book of Mormon tickets six months in advance, so wouldn’t be surprised if it took at least that long.

Ehh, thanks for letting me know. At least I live up here so it’s not like I have to plan a trip around it.

And here I sit in flyover country and will have to wait a decade to see this show... If ever.

It’s opening a semi-permanent outpost in Chicago next year. Simultaneously as they put a touring company on the road. It’s ambitious as hell, but LMM is nothing less than committed to making the show accessible to those who otherwise wouldn’t have much of an option.

Same. Luckily, our local community theater is putting on “Murdered to Death” for the second time in three years, so that’ll be a good show.

14 tickets in one transaction???? I don’t think I’ve ever bought tickets for anything that ever let you have more than 8. What the fuck, Broadway.

It’s Broadway: lots of out-of-town groups organize theatre trips to the city, and so buy bulk for the group, sometimes buying multiple tickets to multiple shows so that everyone can see something.

Those groups use Ticketmaster though? I thought they had to call a special group number.

Ticketmaster/Stubhub is legit one of the worst things that ever happened to live entertainment. It’s a hellspawn of supply/demand models that screws over everybody. Im glad LMM and the Hamilton producers are trying to take it on.

It’s great when you missed tickets to something you really want to go to and can find a (somewhat reasonable) deal. There are definitely times I’m willing to pay more, or even feel like the original tickets were undervalued based on how much I love the act. It sucks when the original tickets were $20 and the only tickets available for resale are listed at $400, though. That’s just fucking cruel.

That just means someone likes the show $380 more than you do. What’s wierd is the show producers not increasing the ticket prices themselves. Less margin for the scalpers, more profit for the cast and producers.

The Cancellation Line Policies seem legitimate to me. Especially that if you get the tickets you must then proceed into the show...

I stood outside the theater for the lottery once before they moved it over the digital platform, and I can definitely see why 1) they made the lottery digital and 2) they updated the cancellation policies, because the crowd outside of the theater was insane and the people who worked there constantly had to yell at people to get out of the road so cars could go by.

I was sitting waiting for a show to start the other night at a bar and I saw on Facebook they released more tickets. Somehow I got tickets in time. I have orchestra seats for January. I know it won’t be the original cast but I’m still not believing it...
